New Ghibli AMV just released, in depth thoughts wanted.

Post by Bakadeshi [AuN Studios] » Fri Apr 02, 2004 2:28 pm

I had originally planed not to release this till after Otakon since I might show it there, but I decided to go ahead and release it anyway, since its so far off, and Mostly because I wanted feedback on how I did. Its my most thorough Job on an AMV yet, and I tried a few different ideas in it I havn't seen in another AMV yet. I spent 50 hours on it, most of which was on choosing the best scenes and perfecting the timming/fades to run as smooth as possible. Its does not contain much effects, just what I thought would help the video, nothing is there just to look "pretty". Ghibli art doesn't need effects to look pretty anyway ;p

For detailed info on the video and download link, see my video profile.

Video is in Xvid format with DX50 FourCC code, and is currently only available off my website. I will upload to the donut after I get some feedback on it (mostly video encode quality issues since I cannot change it once I get it up) This is the final version as far as editing is concerned.

The video quality looks top notch, even on full, the colors jump off the screen.

I'll post your op when I get a chance.

yep, I ran it through some filters to clean up the source, since it was old footage (1986 according to the box) Smartsmoother and minor Brightness/contrast adjustments was all it needed. Also spent the better part of about 3 days just trying to get the best possible encode with Xvid before releasing it.
I'm glad though since I now have a better understanding of most of the setting options in Xvid that I can now use towards all my future projects .

That was kewt ^^

This is the first AMV that I saw with that anime and song ^^ Original AMVs are always a pleasure to watch .

Well I can't say too much things to help you with the final version to the con , mainly because the act sync in this vid is pretty good , have some parts that first I thought that could be better with more cuts or effects to sync some beats , but then , i figure out that you have reasons to keep those scenes as it is , so , I think that the act sync have nothing to redo ^^

Ah and I liked it how you've matched the lyrics too

Nice vid ^^
Nothing usefull here .

Thanks, glad you liked it. yea some parts I left unaltered intentionally... such as parts of the tower scene.... It already had all the drama and intensity it needed by itself, so no additional effects or beat synching were needed there, in my opinion.
Thanks for the feedback :)

Lol don't take my post too literally now, it doesn;t have to be detailed opinion.... some kindof "I liked it" or "I hated it" (with reason) would be nice ^_^ I see you are all downloading it (looks at his bandwith usage) but not many saying anything about it ;p
