I Wish We'd All Been Ready - DC TalkRorschach wrote:There's plenty of useful footage in Anime if you want to display Christian symbols, Christian acts, and even Christian philosophies, but if you want to get to the ultimate point (that we're all sinners, cannot save ourselves from damnation, and therefore need to accept Christ's blood sacrifice in order to be saved), the AMV's song is going to have to carry that message on its own. So far, I haven't been able to find a song that does that.
Still, I did manage this little gem of an AMV, of which I'm very proud, even though it's more a negative message about the futility of life without God than a positive promotion of life with God. (In other words, a refutation of the stupid philosophy promoted in John Lennon's evil song "Imagine."):

Just to nitpick, Rem's necklace is of the insignia of Project Seeds. All the crewmembers wear them somewhere on their clothes.silver_moon wrote: My Let it Make Me Strong vid uses Steven Curtis Chapman (great artist, btw). The song isn't obviously Christian at first, but it comes out in a few lines. And the anime, Trigun, isn't exactly a religious show, but Wolfwood's cross and a church are shown. Rem is also seen wearing a cross. And while I couldn't exactly relate some of the lyrics perfectly to the show, Vash does have some Christian values that made the song work for the video.
I won't get into "Christian values," because of what AD said. But anyone is welcome to take up the debate with me over PM, because the idea that all morality is automatically Christian makes me want to spit nails.

I made an attempt at a video along those lines (to give myself some shameless promotion). The source footage I got ahold of wasn't very good and the only review I got said the sound was bad but thats cause the song is a demo version. I finished it before I was completely done but I'm still happy with the way it turned out. Check it out if you want, I could always use more opinions.Beowulf wrote:To actually contribute to the thread, I'd like to see more videos deal with serious subjects like religeon, social happenings and politics ect.

Really? I didn't know that. Hehe...SarahtheBoring wrote:Just to nitpick, Rem's necklace is of the insignia of Project Seeds. All the crewmembers wear them somewhere on their clothes.
And I didn't think EoE was disturbing because it was confusing, I thought it was disturbing because it depicted Armageddon in a twisted and creepy way. Making a disturbing movie about the end of the world would be fine if it didn't have so many Christian references and symbols. Even the title is a reference ("Neon Genesis Evangelion" means "New Evangelical Beginning", I read somewhere). Because that movie is certainly not Christian.

Well, to be even more literal about it, "new beginning gospel" = "new beginning good news".silver_moon wrote:And I didn't think EoE was disturbing because it was confusing, I thought it was disturbing because it depicted Armageddon in a twisted and creepy way. I thought they were based off of Japanese mythical demons...Pie Row Maniac wrote:It seems more Babylonian than Christian. All the Evas are characters from Babylonian mythology anyways.
I think.
