"anime"

Post by kilo » Wed Mar 31, 2004 9:43 am

ok...this is continuing on from the carebear thread (i swear, the mod's around here are far too mod-happy).

yes, this is animemusicvideos.org and yes anime is a specific style of animation from japan. however, there are plenty of non-anime animations used in the videos around here, from what i can tell. so i don't think my carebear question is irrelevant.

and if non-anime animation videos are against the grain here, i think it's time to diversify. it could only make things better.

Baaad move. When a mod locks a thread, that means that the topic has run it's course and that you shouldn't do something like this and start a new thread.

And I think it's time that you go back and read all of the other threads regarding this and realize that it's not going to happen. This topic has been gone over dozens of times, and the same conclusion has been reached each time: this is AnimeMusicVideos.Org, not AnimationMusicVideos.Org. Phade, the all-knowing and all-powerful creator/owner of this site, has decreed that this site be used for anime music videos as opposed to music videos for everything. If you want to go create FanMusicVideos.Org or AnimationMusicVideos.Org, that's your perogative and we wish you luck. However, no amount of argument on your part is going to change anybody's mind on the matter *here*.

usually when a topic has run it's course, people will stop posting and you let the thread die, not close it.

anyway, I understand, but i'm starting to sense some anime elitism here, lol.

are there any animation sites like this but for all animation styles that you know of? someplace more "open-minded?"

The topic has run its course on those aforementioned other threads I mentioned, and letting it continue on yours would have been beating a dead horse.]

There's no elitism at all. What you're doing is like going to, say, a site about soccer, and asking the mods to add a section for the baseball fans. It goes against the purpose of the site and makes no sense.

Barring checking out one of the other threads and finding the other links people have posted, you can go on Google and search for "fanvids" or "fan music videos" or whatever the nom-de-geurre of this particular fanart has obtained outside the AMV scene.

OMGWTF!!!!! I just screwed up Kraft dinner... again!

How dumb can I be, screwing up KD not once but twice!

Oh and yeah, only anime music videos here. I was hoping another site would be made someday for non-anime videos. Nothing against non-anime videos, I just hate finding them on here. I think there was one to Seinfeld on here once. I mean come on!

Just to respond to the fact that there *are* non-anime vids on this site -

They aren't supposed to be here. As they're found, they're deleted (if they're on local), and having a non-anime vid listed in your profile disqualifies you from the VCA's (the yearly member contest for the new people). Most people have requested to get their old non-anime vids taken off the site. And new ones are harder to add since you have to wait for your new anime title to be confirmed before you can upload (to local - this may not be a problem with direct vids).

Eventually you probably won't be able to add an anime title at all - you'll have to submit the name to the mods and wait for them to make sure it's really anime. Those non-anime vids that are still around are just waiting for their eventual eradication. Don't worry, we're not hypocrites - there are just a lot of videos to go through, and a lot of people who think live action shows are anime. ^_^;

That depends on the game. Final Fantasy series, yes. Morrowind or something, no.
