Recomendations for dark anime

By not fit I meant that it would look funny next to the others due to animation style. I think I'll check out Berserk as well. Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming.

That's just a classic showing it's age.

The Berserk manga is very violent, but a wonderful read. Be hard to find anything darker than the post-eclipse volumes too...

if its dark anime, i would say lain or soultaker.

if its dark manga, i would suggest work from junji ito .. hes pretty damn good!! =D

perfect blue got pretti dark towards the end.

the devil man movie or whatever, not the Demon bird or awakening of Devilman.

But the one that has Amon actually appearing. I don't find anime in any case dark but if you wanna go for a graphic scene:

When Amon is freed he picks up one of Devilman's friends (a little kid) and begins to eat her while she's alive. I thought he was saving her but nope, ate her. then proceeded to wipe the floor with every demon there. Also that girl, mimi or something, her head was cut off and put on a pike.

Darkside Blues is one anime that comes to mind. I think its as dated as Vampire Hunter D, but seemed to be as dark as X/1999 after my first viewing. It might be a hard title to find though.
