Go me.
As Dokool mentioned, I meant the HTML tags, but was trying to illustrate it visually ;).

And, from my experience, while 4-hour vids generally don't go to far, once you get a little above that - the quality of the vid is not neccesarily proportional to time spent. Besides - it's too easy to trick the system, as there's no actual way to check how long videos take to make :roll:
4 hours is nothing ;). I believe my average is around10 seconds done in an hour ;_;. And that's if it's mostly standard stuff. Add in piano keys and...oh my :shock:

I agree that under four hours is usually too short for a video but my Iron Chef video after I completed the full version came out to about 3 1/2 hrs total editing time and it turned out pretty well.

My Iron Chef video at ACen didn't. However, I blame only having two hours and that crowd-watching-me-thing (yeah that's the technical term)...oh and did I mention alcohol? -_-;;

The time spent writing to us in photoshop didn't help either I imagine.

Oh were you there?

Nice to know I embarassed myself in front of more people than I thought >_>.

Hopefully I'll do better this year. I was lucky enough to win with "teh suck" last year. I imagine I won't be able to this year. :cry:

Maybe you misunderstand people. The idea is to add it to the DATABASE. Allowing searches to be made based off time spent creating. Reason being, I see a lot of new AMVs out there that have a description of something like "LOL made in half a day, watch it!!!". It'd be nice to just skim through those. Maybe I shouldn't trust the New Downloads button and just read the AMV announcements, but people announce crappy videos too, so whatever...

Before anyone goes "How dare you think that quality videos can't be made in a short amount of time!!". You can already filter out anime, music & file format. I don't see how making sure someone spent more than a few hours on a video is that much worse...

Who's to say they'll be honest? If I made a video in 6 hours and wanted more people to see it, well... who's to say it didn't take me 60 hours? :?

Yeah!

My last vid took me 125 hrs. Really, it did. I used a timer every day I sat down to edit and accurately counted the hours spent. Because that's what a good scientist does when he begins a new project. After all, who would lie about something like that? :P

Just think, if you include the hours (months/years) spent thinking about a vid, most of mine took me over 3 years to make. How would that be listed - pure editing time, or conceptual time? Even if you trust people to be 'academically honest' about a hobby, you still need to break down exactly what hours are being given - the editing hours, or the time for creation. Since I collected my first pic (one of the ones used in my last vid) back in '98, does that mean I can say it took me 6 yrs to make the vid, or should I break it into hours? :shock: Gotta get my calculator.
