KMFDM - Dogma. The song is just a big rant. Here are the lyrics.

ALL WE WANT IS A HEADRUSH
ALL WE WANT IS TO GET OUT OF OUR SKIN FOR A WHILE
WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING
ANYTHING WE WANT ANYWAY...
WE USED TO HATE PEOPLE
NOW WE JUST MAKE FUN OF THEM
IT'S MORE EFFECTIVE THAT WAY
WE DON'T LIVE
WE JUST SCRATCH ON DAY TO DAY
WITH NOTHING BUT MATCHBOOKS AND SARCASM IN OUR POCKETS
AND ALL WE ARE WAITING FOR IS FOR SOMETHING WORTH WAITING FOR
LET'S ADMIT AMERICA GETS THE CELEBRITIES WE DESERVE
LET'S STOP SAYING "DON'T QUOTE ME" BECAUSE IF NO ONE QUOTES YOU
YOU PROBABLY HAVEN'T SAID A THING WORTH SAYING
WE NEED SOMETHING TO KILL THE PAIN OF ALL THAT NOTHING INSIDE
WE ALL JUST WANT TO DIE A LITTLE BIT
WE FEAR THAT POP - CULTURE IS THE ONLY CULTURE WE'RE EVER GOING TO HAVE
WE WANT TO STOP READING MAGAZINES
STOP WATCHING TV
STOP CARING ABOUT HOLLYWOOD
BUT WE'RE ADDICTED TO THE THINGS WE HATE
WE DON'T RUN WASHINGTON AND NO ONE REALLY DOES
ASK NOT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY
ASK WHAT YOUR COUNTRY DID TO YOU
THE ONLY REASON YOU'RE STILL ALIVE IS BECAUSE SOMEONE
HAS DECIDED TO LET YOU LIVE
WE OWE SO MUCH MONEY WE'RE NOT BROKE WE'RE BROKEN
WE'RE SO POOR WE CAN'T EVEN PAY ATTENTION
SO WHAT DO YOU WANT
YOU WANT TO BE FAMOUS AND RICH AND HAPPY
BUT YOU'RE TERRIFIED YOU HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER THIS WORLD
THING TO SAY AND NO WAY TO SAY IT
BUT YOU CAN SAY IT IN THREE LANGUAGES
YOU ARE MORE THAN THE SUM OF WHAT YOU CONSUME
DESIRE IS NOT AN OCCUPATION
YOU ARE ULTIMATELY THRILLED AND DESPERATE
SKYHIGH AND FUCKED
LET'S STOP PRAYING FOR SOMEONE TO SAVE US AND START SAVING OURSELVES
LET'S STOP THIS AND START OVER
LET'S GO OUT - LET'S KEEP GOING
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - THIS IS YOUR FUCKING LIFE
WE NEED SOMETHING TO KILL THE PAIN OF ALL THAT NOTHING INSIDE
QUIT WHINING YOU HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE FRANKLY
YOU HAVEN'T DONE MUCH OF ANYTHING
SOMEONE'S WRITING DOWN YOUR MISTAKES
SOMEONE'S DOCUMENTING YOUR DOWNFALL

Go! find a way to listen to this song! Now!
Du auf dem Schulhof
ich zum Töten bereit
und keiner hier weiß
von meiner Einsamkeit

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

bum wrote:so what do people think of "anti modern hiphop" songs, such as paparazzi by xibit and step up by linkin park (unreleased track, PM me for the bit torrent link) ? i realy love them, but thoughs two are the only ones ive heard. does anyone know any more of theys type of songs ?
After viewing the question, rap group Westside Connection's Terrorist Threats album imediately came to mind. To me, its a highly underrated album that deserves much, much more recognition. On the album, there a few songs that attacks the current fads as well as bringing back the shock value that hard rap once had. To me, the whole album is very good and is the most satisfying cd that i have purchased in a long time. Here's a couple songs that attacks and shocks with a few lyrics excerpts

(warning explicit lyrics)

Call 911 -

[Verse 1 - Ice Cube]
Just face it, I blaze shit
Yo shit is basic, my shit is matrix
Make you erase shit
Niggaz won't say shit, but DJs you ain't shit
Cuz you don't play shit, unless it's that gay shit

I'm straight off the slave ship, my style is ancient
I'm rich and I'm famous, I'm on, I'm dangerous
I came wit that language, it's mad, it's brainless
You study at Cambridge, I'm fuckin' yo main bitch
Plus my ebonics is full, of gin and tonic, erotic
Yeah you got it, hypnotic, plus I got it
After nine eleven niggaz got patriotic
On nine twelve I'm like fuck it nigga blaze the chronic

So Many Rappers in Love -

[W.C.]
The pussy gets cream
Real niggas aint simpin, Oh NO!
Im sick of niggas, trick niggas throw my radio in a ditch, nigga, cause all i hear is bitch niggas
Fake ass R&B thugs in hot as sweaters, wit bull shit messages and tite ass vests
Fuck hip hop, yall needa call it simp hop
Sock that bitch in the back of her head and take the cock
Hoe shut up, im bout to load the fuck up
And if i hear another nigga in love im throwin up
Load it up, pick the gun up
Im fed up, cause radio wit wimp bitch men, imma fuck u snuff heads up
Soft niggas get the gay channel, when i slap an R&B thug off his mothafuckin piano
DJ's need to let the ghetto back in the club
Theres too many fake ass thugs, too many rappers in love

KMFDM > Xzibit, West Side Connection, plus others rap mentioned

Rap lyrics seem to always be about:

A. Bitches, Hoes etc.
B, Something sex related
C. Money, fame, expensive stuff, "bling bling",
E. Shiny cars, expensive cars, cars with 20" or bigger rims

Well, not all rap, but a bigger chunk than there should be.
Someone said that rap is very expressive of one's soul.
Man, some peoples souls seem really deep

What happens when we overthrow everything?

KMFDM

"Anarchy"

You break my back
You won't break me
All is black
But I still see
Shut me down
Knock me to the floor
Shoot me up
Fuck me like a whore

Trapped under ice
Comfortably cold
I've gone as low as you can go
Feel no remorse
No sense of shame
Time's gonna wash away all pain

I made a god out of blood
Not superiority
I killed the king of deceit
Now I sleep in anarchy

Sacrifice to the cause
Turn your code into law
Compensate to validate the loss
Take a thief
Nail him to a cross

Gospel of rage
Faction of hate
Deviate from the absolute
Born of revenge
Raised on cement
Chaos created government

I made a god out of blood
Not superiority
I killed the king of deceit
Wake me up in anarchy

Unrelated, I know, but I like that song, and I couldn't resist after someone else posted KMFDM.
Yeah, so I am a KMFDM n00b.....

Most rap is simply a glorified bragging game of why one person is superior than the other if you want to think of it that way. Even Sugar Hill Gang bragged about riding Cadillacs in "Rapper's Delight," if you listened closely enough. Although, I think the main reason why modern rap lyrics contain all listed above is because it is a formula that works with the public, and will continue to work as long as there's a big name behind it, and it has a beat that you can move to in the clubs.

Like many other genres of music, rap too has sub genres such as; violent gansta rap that's about living te streetlife and criminal lives, bling rap about being rich and living a lifestyle opposite to how gansta rap portrays, positive rap which is similar to gansta but about possible solutions to the problems on the streets, and there's the filler rap that doesn't usually fit into any of these categories but just serve as an opening hit single to introduce the rapper's album and are made exclusively for the club scenes and dance floors. An example of filler rap singles include "the Real Slim Shady" to open second album, "Without Me" to open his third, Tupac's "California Love" to open the All Eyez on Me album, 50 Cent with "In Da Club" for Get rich or Die Tryin'. songs with Nate Dogg in it, and too many others to list. But like I said before, the reason I think that all rap today sounds similar, is because its sticking to a formula that ceases to fail, which is really such a shame.

I've strayed away from rap since Tupac left and since Westside Connection's album before Terrorist Threats. Now I'm selectively listening to Eminem, 50 Cent and Westside (now that they're back) and the rap from the early 90's.

Just remember that all types of music have different energies with different purposes. Not all songs in one genre are songs that you can just sit there to listen and to contemplate to, and not all songs in one genre are songs that you can move, dance, jump, or mosh to.

Dude, Anarchy is like totally one of the crappiest KMFDM songs. 8)
Sucks is closer to the attitude being looked for here.

If you want industrial anti-rap, you gotta go with ohGr - Cracker
link to legal video download
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.

I know Anarchy didn't fit the thread theme, I just posted it cause I like it. From what I've heard of KMFDM, I like it.

OhGr, 16 Volt, Zeromancer: not bad....but still not sure.(nothing will top Orgy, but hey that's just me)
And from what I've heard, Ministry seems abit "dated sounding". Not that their bad or anything, just sounds old. (as far a electro music goes)

btw where does Deadsy fit in? Synthpop? Gothsynth?
regardless, I like Key to Gramercy Park and Mansion World. (and I don't care what eveyone thinks  )
