Evanescence alternative? Help...
I'm looking for a song like any one of Evanescence's songs - meaning something with a soft, lilting and somewhat haunting melody, a dramatic feel, and a rise either in the middle or at the end that will break the softer flow up till that point. Now, I've found one Japanese song that fits this pattern, but the lyrics are nothing like what I'm aiming for - it needs to be a romance song - or a lyricless song (instrumental would work).
My main problem is the person who usually suggests the perfect songs to me (she knows a lot more than I do) is currently naming off Evanescence songs. ^_^; It seems (according to her) that any one of their songs will fit that pattern. But I don't really like their music enough to get a cd full of them - and I don't want to use my single since I'm still saving 'Bring Me to Life' for a fantasy vid. So...any suggestions?
The video features a romance, but it's very soft, not really physical so much as 'puppy love' and the first half or so would be rather pretty - but I need a track that will have room for a dramatic end, or have the rise in the middle working to the end. So far, the only song that comes to mind is 'Mother' from Earthian (the lyrics fit well), but it doesn't have any hard sections at all, so the mood isn't really going to fit.
I'm looking for song recs - songs that have what Evanescence has made typical - haunting melody, angst/dramatic singing, and then heavy instrumental.

Soma - the Smashing Pumpkins
it's romantic-ish, but a bit on the depressing side though.
there's Iris - the Goo Goo Dolls
been used many times though and it's not as heavy or angsty as Evanescence
Glycerine - Bush
also much lighter sounding

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. ^_^ So far the only 'suitable' songs I actually have are some of Dido's and a Sarah Brightman - and I think all but one of them has been used before. I'll definitely look into these.
[Though I do have Iris - but I have another video in mind if I ever decide to use that song. ^.~ ]

Ah, the one I was listening to is her 'Deliver Me' - it fits the character. But that would be a different vid - it doesn't have the hard beat I'd want for this vid (that would be more a profile than a romance if I used that song). Mostly I just really need to hear a wider variety of music, so all the suggestions are appreciated. ^_^; I don't have nearly enough music for softer songs that aren't in Japanese.XenoDrake wrote:and about good ol sarah B, i got a song for ya from her glory days as a disco pop diva ill bet hasent been used before ^_~[/color]

I know of one really good one... but I really doubt it would work, because it's more about loss.
I think you could definitely like it, though, so you might want to check it out anyway. The song is "Different Worlds" by Evergrey and I think it would make a great video. Just... not for this one. It's possibly the most angsty song I have ever heard, and really haunting. It's not actually about lost love or anything, but it can easily be interpreted that way.
"State of Paralysis" off the same album is also really good.
Sorry this isn't much help right now, most of the songs I listen to aren't anything fitting of puppy love.
