I usually try to leave a response..even if it is just a thank you for your op..though I will admit there are a few I've missed.. I should go fix that now..*slinks off to do so*

I usually dont respond to the review I get that are just a couple of lines long. I do try to give some sort of reply to ones that had some thought put into them. I mean, on short reviews, theres really nothing I could come back with except like "Thanks for the opinion." And I think it would be really dumb to go through like 50 opinions on a single video and just have "thanks for the opinion" written on 90% of them :| I mean then people would see and and think "wow, you took the time to give me your canned response, thanks a lot! /sarcasm"
Or maybe they wouldn't think that :|

Yeah, that's the attitude. Go Matt.

While we're on the subject (and after Matt's depressing view), I might add that I love to read the replies to my reviews. I can go through my 'all opinions' list and look at the 'pink' replies and spot the new ones, always a pleasure to read. After all, I don't leave reviews because I enjoy talking to myself - I do it so the creator can hear what I thought. And I like to know how that opinion is received.

Not to say I get angry that a hundred so people didn't reply, I just don't remember those videos like I do the ones that *were* replied to. And I rarely review a second video for someone who didn't reply to the first review - I just figure they don't care, so why bother. :?

My favorite vids to review are the beginners who actually *want* feedback, and even if they don't reply, I know it was useful. I don't like reviewing the 'older' editors who accept a new review as just one more among hundreds to be glanced at and passed over - and I can usually spot those after one or two reviews - they're the ones who never reply, or if they *do* reply, all they comment on is my reviewability score and whether I've harmed their spot on the top list. ~_~;; In those cases, I think it's better *not* to reply at all.

Zarxrax and AM have pretty well covered my views on replies. I tend to be at a loss for words many times when I sit down to try and write, and so to sit and force myself to respond to all of them would result in a string of "Thank You" "thank you" "thank you for the op", ad nauseum. I usually make a point of replying when there is a specific comment that moved me (or that it moved someone else) or an important technical point that was brought up, as there are some things which are most definitely deserving of replies. Default formalities without sincerity can make you seem false in other regards as well, but by the same token even when they are done with sincerity there will always be those who will miss the sincerity due to the way that they view it. I guess it depends on whether you would rather risk that people see you as high and mighty (for not responding to all) or risk that they see you as insincere (for responding to all replies, regardless of how little of a response)

Yyyyyeah, it's a simplification, right. 'Cause it takes YEARS out of your life to just say "thank you."

Whatever, man.
