Yeah, I reply to all my ops. The length of my reply is usually proportional to the length of the op itself, but I still answer them all. The people who write those ops put their time into doing so, therefore (at the very least) a "thanks" is in order.

I myself try to respond to all ops eventually. Sometime soon I'm gonna go through all the op's left for me and see which ones I haven't responded too yet. I usually don't like leaving reviewers high and dry.

I have a few ops that I didnt respond to. But its only because I forgot.
I know how it feels to not get a response, it hurts. So if anyone gave me an OP and I didn't reply...sorry. I don't look at my OPs all the time so forgetting is easy.

Okay. I could agree with you. But give a good valid reason as to why you wouldn't leave a response. The only possible reason I could see is if it was one of those undeserved straight 1s. And even then, you should leave a response telling the guy to die. :?

Let's see, out of 481 ops I've given, I have received a reply from 268 of them - meaning a little over half the people I wrote reviews for replied to me. And I don't do the short reviews (all 1s, all 10s) - my word count is 868.5 - and I don't just chat to get that.

I think it's safe for me to say that it doesn't matter if you leave short useless reviews or long detailed reviews - the chances of you getting a reply are half and half, maybe a *bit* better if you do the 'useful' route.

As for myself - I tried to reply to every review, but after a while it gets too repetitive. For those who loved a vid, but didn't mention any specific part, all I can say is "I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the feedback" - and that starts to look 'canned' if you write it twice in reviews for the same vid. I just get a mind blank and end up talking about how much *I* liked the vid - and that's uncalled for since I'm supposed to be thanking them. Or what about those reviews where I don't agree with the scores? I have the worst time trying to manage a polite reply to those people - I tend to put them off and any subsequent review just in case the flamer is checking to see if I'm ignoring him, or if I just didn't read what he left. I'm non-confrontational with faceless reviewers, and I know that has left me with a good lump of reviews that I still haven't touched - and if I went and replied now it would be a little late for it.

But those are the excuses I give myself when I let a review sit. Mostly it's laziness, my lack of originality in thanking people (I hate to have the same sentence twice on a review page - because it's all I could think to say to people), and my tendency to only respond to hostile reviews when they email me (I don't want it public where anyone reviewing the vid can see it). Plus...sometimes people like my very old vids and I just can't be honest with them about the high scores - if they thought it looked great, far be it from me to make them hate the vid by shoving others in their faces (I've done that, and created picky patrons I'd rather not have known).

Lately I've been trying to go over older reviews and reply to them - I do it in spurts. I tend to go a while without a review and when I do get one, I'll reply to a few of the older ones and clear up that vid. In the last few months I've been trying to make it a point to reply to every review I get within a day or two - I don't like them feeling ignored.

It's just that I'm used to not getting replies to my reviews (and my reviews tend to take me at *least* an hour to write up, not including the watching of the vid) - I figure people don't expect replies, so they don't leave them unless the person asks something or brings up something they want to comment on. :?

I would also like to say.
Even if they do not leave a response. I'm sure they are just as thankful.
But what i don't llike is the people that don't leave one single reply to any of the ops they get.

I try to reply to every op I get. I figure it's way to easy for someone to download a vid and never letm e know what they thought of it, anyone who takes that extra time to let know know what they thought, even if only a sentance or two, deserves the time it takes me to say I appreciate it.

I try to respond to everything I get, and I'm pretty sure I have done so successfully.

As for people not responding to me, I don't mind. I wrote my review for them to see what I thought of their vid, I didn't write it for the pleasure of getting a response, it's more like an added bonus.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

I've responded to every review I've gotten...good, bad or indifferent. It's just the right thing to do.

I respond to the most I get... the ones I not respond to are these 2 word ops "Great AMV" or some very early ones (didn't find the reply field back then)

I like it when creators respond to my ops, especially to long ones and even if it's only a "Thank you for the review" so that I see it got appreciated. If there's no response to a 1500 words review I wrote it feels like the the creator didn't appreciate my opinion or even didn't read it. Please, you can at least write these 5 words above ;)
Some creators replyed via E-Mail, PM or ICQ to me, I'm fine with this, too (which is yet kinda the same thing :/ )
