I would say that the more practice u have, the better u get. U will learn more about video editing once u get some experience under ur sleves. I mean, ive learned sooo much just doing my first video and now imma upload it soon. In other words, practice makes perfect. If u dont like ur video, u can always redo it once u learn the thing u need to perfect it. Stick with it and ull learn a lot and become a great video editor ... ;)

Just don't become too used to it. I've been making "half-videos" for the best part of the last 2 years. Maybe I should stop.

Ah, my friend, that is where we disagree...

This may sound selfish, but I don't make AMVs to get good reviews, I make them to express myself. I have never went back and changed something on one of my videos once it has been released.

However, I will say that I don't ignore people opinions. I like to think that they influence my decision making on the next video I make. I think people should listen to technical comments, but artistic comments can be accepted or ignored, because it's your amv, not someone elses. If you take another person's artistic comments (i.e.: I don't like the song *not* the song doesen't fit (not the same thing)), it's not really your amv, is it? If people like Shinichiro Watanabe, George Lucas, and the Wachowski Brothers thought like this, we wouldn't have Cowboy Bebop, The Matrix, or Star Wars.

With that being said. I'm not naive enough to think that I'm totally unique. If I make a video and release it because I like the way it turned out, I know that someone else will enjoy it, even if it isn't popular.

Well, while I'm typing alot, I might as well address something else that is semi-related. If people don't (and i'm sure there are alot of people that are in this category) like my videos, and they give me a bad review, I don't get upset about it. I don't care who you are, from Ermac to whoever. Not everyone is going to like all of your videos. Speaking of Ermac:
I don't make my videos from the perspective of "Hey this would be cool because a lot of people would like it." I'm an artist, and when I get a moment of artistic inspiration, I run with it and create a video.
If I can't please everyone, I might as well make a video that I'm happy with and that I liked doing.

And the worst thing you can do when someone gives you a bad review is to take 'revenge' and give them a bad one. This has happened to me before, heh.

We have AMV contests, but AMV making itself is not a contest. But, that's one semi-n00b editor(of two years)'s opinion...

Exactly what I'd say, Tenken, good work.

Frankly, I never thought that scores make you a good editor, either. Besides, if what you do is mess around - well, how about the fact that those vids DO deserve moderate-to-crappy scores?

Scores are nothing, fulfilling whatever you tried to get at is what matters. If the intent was to mess around with a vid and show it to a bunch of people, no better way of doing that than uploading to the org.

Which is why I again say dew it people.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

:? These paragraphs contradict each other.

"Those vids deserve crappy scores :eyeroll:"
vs.
"Scores are nothing"

...can you elaborate? :?

Scores are important to me - at least *one* score is. If I upload a vid that doesn't get good points from at least one person reviewing that vid, then I know I shouldn't have shared it - so that score *does* matter.

Reviewablity.

It has nothing to do with whether or not I'll make amvs, or how I make them, but it does determine whether I share them. If no one else likes it, then I would rather keep it to myself. So far I've found at least one person who liked every vid I've shared, so I continue. But I would stop sharing if that score plummeted because as far as I'm concerned - if you get 5-8 reviews for a video and everyone scored the reviewability at 5 or lower, then no one else likes it and you wasted your time putting it out where they could share it with you. That's the sort of vid you'd do better to keep to yourself because obviously you're the only one who can appreciate it. I wouldn't make a painting (or poem, or any artpiece) and put it on display if I didn't think someone else might like it as much as I did. All it takes is one person - if s/he liked it as well, then I'm happy to have spent a few hours putting it online. If no one did, then I could have been using those hours on a new vid.

Yes, I aim to please myself when I edit, but putting a vid online is an attempt to find others who share the same interests - to find someone else who will also like it. I don't put vids (or fics for that matter) online if I know no one will like them - those are obviously too personal and should be kept for my eyes alone.
