Are you volunteering to tell that to every new member who gets flamed? By the time you tell them to ignore it, the damage is already done, and there's nothing to prevent the same from happening to the next person, and so on. Ignore it and nothing changes - they *do* get bored and move on - on to the next new member who posts.)v(ajin Koji wrote:it's not that hard, just dont respond to them, then they'll get bored and move on.

You know, I have almost never found "ignore them and they'll stop" to be accurate advice in my entire life. Goodness knows it certainly doesn't work on my siblings, and I don't think it will work here, just because people keep finding so many new and creative ways to invite flames (and to flame).)v(ajin Koji wrote:it's not that hard, just dont respond to them, then they'll get bored and move on.Cyanna wrote:Not everyone has that good of an armor.)v(ajin Koji wrote:why don't we just ignore flamers?

Good to see all the attention given to this thread.
And finally an admin reply ^^
But ,
HEY , I don't give a damn for some people point of view about what should be called by a flame or sarcasm , or if that flame is bad enough to discuss about
The whole point of this thread , it's , new members don't expect flames in their first posts , if you are an amv creator you may remember how we stay emotionally unstable when we announce our first vid uploaded here in the org , I can remember a lot of feelings . .. expectation , excitement , etc .
If you flame somebody in that emotional state , you can really disapoint this person deeply , to reply a new poster thread I always try to use a bit of psychology , yeah I know that sometimes I look like an imbecil super nice guy , but the only thing that I always care when I post a reply it's the use of my words to tell to that person that his/her vid it's not the number one well done AMV on earth , and if you know the usual level of first vids , you know what I'm talking about .........
But , yeah , maybe I think too much

Just call them to account for it. Let them know that it won't be tolerated and that they've been noted. Not necessarily 'ratted out' to the Mods, but that the general people who don't like flames have noted that they've got a habit. sometimes a warning is enough, sometimes more is required.

I'm just going from my own perspective, I know that if I were a flamer (god foribid i ever become one) I would probably get really bored really quick if I got no reaction out of anyone.Scintilla wrote:You know, I have almost never found "ignore them and they'll stop" to be accurate advice in my entire life. In fact it's probably that very fact that stops me from becoming a flamer...oh and my laziness too i guess.

I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.
