Saving Private Ryan really isn't a good example since it's a recreation of WWII. People litterally died by the boatload on beach landings.Otohiko wrote:Saving Private Ryan intended to be as real as it can be.
I doubt anyone in their sane mind would want to imitate Private Ryan in reality.
The problem starts when people start transposing unrealistic violence to reality.
Anyways, the problem of violence goes back to the parents and their inability to raise their children and teach them. People can blame TV and other forms of media but when you live in such a stressful society and there are no outlets to release.......it all builds up and people snap.
With all these toys humanity has created since his dawning we really haven't evolved a bit.
Now back to watching Fist Of The North Star......

If it's important to the series.... violence is GREAT!
If it's cool and unthreatening... violence is welcome! (Berserk)
That's my hypotesis on the matter, atleast.

It annoys the hell out of me how people assume that other people who watch violent movies or read violent books are violent themselves. That's not the case. There's a whole crowd like that at my school...they drive me crazy. They're all convinced that anime is violent porn. It makes me a little uncomfortable writing at school because I never know what'll happen if the wrong person starts reading over my shoulder...nosy bastards.

There's nothing wrong with non-gratuitous violence in the media.
