Anime recomendation dilema

Post by Propyro » Thu Jan 15, 2004 10:31 pm

Ok here's the problem, my firends girlfriend dosn't like anime. She's stuck on the "it's just a cartoon" thing. He wants to try and introduce her into anime, the kinds of live action things shes into are drama's (or "chick flicks"), she dosn't like SciFi or Fantasy, but i don't know how well she'd be able to tollerate them.

Now i know your thinking there's a whole shit load of anime that you can recomend, but theres a catch, she's dyslexic ... so it has to have a decent dub becuse she can't quite read the subtitles. if it weren't for that Kare Kano would have been perfect for her ... but i don't know what it's dub is like, and i don't have much faith in that.

You guys got any good ideas?

I've heard that Video Girl Ai has a good dub...although I don't know if she would take the idea of a 'video girl' to farfetched.

I suppose that Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are out of the question then. Does Castle of Cagliostro have a decent dub? I've only seen it subtitled...

His and Her Circumstances is supposedly good. I've never seen it, though, but I know it has lots of drama and romance. :) Not sure about how well the dub, is either. But...it's something to look into. ^^;

Yes, I just watched that azul and the dub is great! (I was hoping it would be the same as the TV show cast, but since MANGA realesed tis one it isn't). its okay though, the actors are really good too.

Urm, Lare Kano = His and Her Circumstances.

Same anime, different names.

Yeah...initially, as I recall, it first had a horrendous dub, but for the DVD release, ZRO Limit redid it and did a good job (David Hayter stands as the best dub of Lupin I've heard so far...)

No big dubbing names to recommend it by, but it's still a good job

Oh a girl that needs to be introduced into anime... a good dubbed anime series that i can recommend and i though was good would be as follows:

-Oh My goddess
-Love Hina

Both of these were decently dubbed and they both have enough drama in it to hook those gurls that are into those types of things ... I hope this helps .. ;)

good suggestions john ... but love hina ... i doubt she'd take too kindly to the constant kietaro bashing, Su's robots, or Makoto's Ki attacks ...

and Ah! My goddess probably has too much fantasy in it ... i think what were after is high school drama's ... bud damn Ah! My goddess would ahve been a great idea ... damn her for being picky ... Alex i hope this ends up working!
