Angel_Belldandy video deletion requests:
I'm leaving a-m-v.org for a while and I don't want anymore downloads of this and the other videos that I marked as not wanted. Please honor my request and read my profile.
I replied:
I know about the nature of your leaving. Dont feel bad about the reaction and dont give up amvs altogether. The video files are being deleted but the entries have to stay as they are premiered videos.
So that's it folks - the local video files have been removed but the catalog entries are still there to keep the database as a complete record.

I'll email her about it - I still wonder if she knew what she was doing was wrong. But I can't say I'm not glad the vids are down, I just hate being a bully who chased someone off.
Ah, well, live and learn...

Okay, AD, exactly *what* did the 'officials' tell her? And since when does *everyone* use the same clips? When did the officials at the org decide it was okay to use someone's entire video (most of it playing in the exact order and duration it played in the original)?Angel_Beldandy wrote:I have spoken to the officials here and I feel that there is no video in here that doesn't use the same clips.
If the officials told her she was right - which she seems to think since she's preaching that she'll never stop - then I'll leave it be. If stealing is fine on this website (stealing from each other), then I'll shut up.
My question - did you guys really tell her it was okay? And if so, why haven't you deleted that "don't steal ideas" rule yet? It's misleading.

All I have said to her is what I posted above:
"I know about the nature of your leaving. Dont feel bad about the reaction and dont give up amvs altogether. The video files are being deleted but the entries have to stay as they are premiered videos. "
I didn't say anything about what clips she could or could not use.
As for what anyone else has told her I've no idea.

Reading over the past posts on the topic of plagiarism, I was wondering - is there an actual site policy on plagiarism? From all appearances there isn't, and vidders have to be vigilant and self-policing. Thoughts? What can someone do if one of their vids has been plagiarized?
I've had my second run-in with the same vidder ripping off the same AMV mine. The first time she was informed very publicly of her mistake; this time she's one-upped herself, no only just using my footage, but setting it to the same song (some of my clips are in almost the exact same place!), *and* ripping off some very heavily-edited footage from someone else's AMV. Obviously I've tried talking to her in the past with no success... is there any recourse? Or do I just have to swallow it as some kind of misguided, backhanded compliment?
