No and yes. Payment is optional on a donation status.

There is a 2 week waiting period for new members to d/l videos, but this applys ONLY to LOCAL videos. Direct and Indirect links are accessable to all members, though it's up to those hosting them to maintain the links. Local videos are hosted by the Donut which is the enormous server the ORG itself runs.

The 2 week waiting period can be shorted if you want to donate. If not, just wait 2 weeks and you can d/l all you want. Donation isn't a bad idea though, since it costs lots of money to maintain the Donut, but like I said you don't have too. I myself haven't donated, but I'm planning to do so now that I'm starting to have some extra money I can give.

Not really, but you have to wait 2 weeks in order download the Local links (if donate, you don't have to wait). You can, however, download videos that have Direct or Indirect links.

I encountered that two week limit on local downloads about five minutes ago. The only problem is that the vid I want above all others is a local d/l, so I was thinking about donating. Which leads me to my next question: How do I do it? (donate) Like, do I have to have a credit card?

If you have a credit card you can donate through Paypal and get almost instant access (maybe within a day or two). Otherwise you can mail a check or money order or even cash (dangerous) to Phade's address - it's given on the 'pledge/donate' pages on the main page. ^.~

You'll get access after making a pledge however if you don't pay after a certain amount of time you can lose access until either the donation is paid or a year passes.

Ah, I didn't know that. ^_^;; That wasn't the case when I first donated. But I guess that explains the 'default' donation status I've seen.... >.>

No, that is not correct. Pledgers do not get any additional access, only people who actually donate. However, people who pledge and then default on that pledge after 21 days get the "defaulted" tag and can no longer download.
