DVDDecrypter (VOB) ->
DVD2AVI 1.77.3dg1.0.0RC2 (D2V) ->
AVISynth 2.53 (AVS) [for IVTC] ->
VirtualDub-MPEG2 1.5.10 (HuffYUV AVI [YUV2]) ->
Ulead MediaStudio Pro 6.0 (dvp, HuffYUV AVI [YUV2]) ->
VirtualDub-MPEG2 1.5.10 (XviD) or TMPEGEnc 2.512.52.161 (MPEG-1/MPEG-2)

OSEx/DVD Backup (.VOB) --> MacMPEG2Decoder (MJPEG, (.MOV)) --> Edit --> Export (Crop, Component Video codec, (.MOV)) --> BitVice to MPEG-2 for con submission or ffmpegX (MPEG-1) for online distribution

For IVTC: OSEx/DVD Backup (.VOB) --> Cleaner (IVTC, export MJPEG, (.MOV)) --> Edit --> Export (Crop, Component Video codec, (.MOV)) --> BitVice (MPEG-2) for con submission or ffmpegX (MPEG-1) for online distribution.

I use 99% quality in MJPEG if I have a lot of footage to work with(like a TV series), 100% when only a little footage. Macs don't have HuffYUV, Component Video is too big for editing stage, and DV is too limited.

DVDDecryptor<DVD2AVI<AVISynth(w/ inverse telecine)<VirtualDub<huffyuv

Unless I'm using game footage, of course. ^_^ Then I use PSXMC247 and Showbiz.

SmartRipper>>DVD2AVI>>AVISynth (24FPS)>>VirtualDub (export as HuffYUV)>>Premiere Pro/AE6Std>>export as HuffYUV>>AVISynth (2x resize, soften, sharpen)>>VirtualDub (cleaning time!)

Then, from there, either another AVS file for the distro resize through VirtualDub, or into TMPGEnc for MPEG2 encoding.

There should be a 1x resize at the end of that. If you do a Lanczos Resize to 2x, 3x, or even 4x (i know Ashyukun uses the latter, but it takes 15-20 seconds/frame to do that on my computer), run your cleaning filters of choice, then Lanczos Resize back to the original size. Helps the filters pick out noise so much better.

^^;

Kazaa/BitTorrent -> VirtualDub -> HufYUV -> Premiere (Exported via frameserver) -> (The frame-serve may be re-frameserved threw Vdub because I don't trust Premier or TMPGencs resizeing) -> TMPGEnc
