Actually, much of Gundam Wing was based off the Universal Century Gundam series...which, in turn borrowed from WWII (even then, most of that was limited to the influences of the Principality of Zeon...especially Gihren *who, if you watch the later eps, is compared by his own father to Hitler*)Excalibur00 wrote:And about the WWI take off in Gundam-Wing, that is very true. Much of Gundam wing is taken or based off of WWI and WWII, but at least for me they do a pretty good job at doing so.
As for seeing WWI style battles in Gundam...so long as there's MS in the story, that's not gonna happen, if you wanted to see a WWI story, the best bet would have been to go back to the early part of the OYW, when the Feddie's main force was Type-61 tanks...but, it's highly unlikely that'll get into anime form any time soon (since, we may as well all face it, the mobile suits are part of what sells the show)
In the meantime, closest you'll ever see to that type of fighting is either 08th MS or 0080...
Although if you REALLY want to see some pre-MS fighting, might I recommend looking up the fanfiction 'The Forgotten Fleet'...the earlier parts do feature perspectives from those fighting in the tanks...not much, but it's something
p.s. As for the spelling...depends who you ask...while the English accepted spelling is Zeon, the Italians DO spell it Zion, and in some parts of the animes, you can see them write it as Jion...
