N00B ALERT
Hey all,
I'm a newbie here at AMV.
After getting ADSL, I have too much bandwidth and not enough to download, so I figured I'd get some anime.
I remember seeing some anime music videos downloaded of Kazaa, and I liked what I saw, so I did a quick Google search and found this place.
I was impressed, to say the least.
So, I figured I'd give everyone a heads up, and introduce myself.
My name's RJ, I'm 19, from a small town in NSW, Australia. I like gaming (I have GBA, GCN, X-Box and my all time fave, SNES, amongst other, older consoles.) I like anime, and am planning on getting an absolute bonanza of anime dvd's for my birthday in Feb next year. I also like sleeping and eating.
My bro has a nice PC, so once I get the hang of it, I'll see if I can make some of my own music videos.

NSW... AMVs... Gaming... Old enough to travel. There's only one thing for me to do. AVcon'ed!... shameless.
No seriously for a moment welcome. Uhh, there was a forum dedicated for this kind of thing, but we're better off without it. So I'll interpret your post as an "I need AMVs to download" thread.
You're only new so you'll have to wait 2 weeks before downloading "Local" videos. Don't let that deter you, there's still more than enough Direct and Indirect videos. Once you've waited things out you'll want to look at the AMV Announcements forum and the Star Scale

This sounds like a Mac switch commercial.RJ Gaffney wrote:My name's RJ, I'm 19, from a small town in NSW, Australia.

Well, welcome to the org, RJ! I'm sure a lot of us got into anime much the same way you did; I know I did. As already mentioned, those local AMVs require two weeks of membership, but if you want some of the good stuff now, you can start looking around for direct downloads right away. They're open to the general public. *Cough cough* Did I mention that I always *cough cough* make my AMVs available as direct downloads? *Ahem*RJ Gaffney wrote:Hey all,

Anyway, if you're a gamer, there are several people who would also be glad to inform you (at length) that since many games are made in Japan and feature characters with large eyes and spiked hair, they're anime too. If you can find a song that fits, you might just want to try making an AMV from a favorite game.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
As mentioned, I did sort of fall into anime through gaming. But the two go hand in hand so I guess it was inevitable. The first anime I saw was Akira, which quite frankly, blew me away. It happened when I was eight, and the scene at the end where Tetsuo's power gets out of control and he becomes a big fleshy blob thing gave me nightmares.
I didn't see anything else, aside from the usual morning cartoons (I love Astro Boy!) until I saw Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, and as soon as that was over, I went and got as many from the local store as they had.
Less than halfway through Ninja Scroll I was hooked, and as soon as I find a decent SFII: TAM DVD, I plan on making about fifty AMV's off it.
Hope you don't mind.

Is that a rhetorical question?Otohiko wrote:OMG he put the BAM! through a distortion box.
It's menacing.
Welcome.
Is this considered an OT thread now?

Hey I just got here... uh is there any way to find music that downloads into my computer rather than my media player? I've only had 1 'successful download (vid and music), And, being only 15 or so minutes a member, I getting a little miffed.
Oh, and welcome, RJ. Glad to say, we are in this together... whatever that is.
