Gotta support you 100% on everything you said about mediocre/overused.NineBirds wrote:Allow me to make a correction to my previous post. My sentence should read the anime (and animation) listed are mediocre and/or overused. With the exception of Kai-Doh-Maru, as I have never watched it nor heard of it and therefore make no assumptions to its quality.
Kai Doh Maru, like the Nansou Satomi Hakkenden anime, is great jidaigekki (a period piece) and the artwork is breathtaking and realistic (I lived in Japan for 2 yrs, and the settings, structures, landscapes, etc. are drop-dead spot-on. You can almost smell the tatami mats. The costuming is rather bitchin' as well.) In essence, Kai Doh Maru is so traditional and classy it would flatten any twerpy lyrics 'Evanesence' comes up with.
More difficlut to hold the 7-second attention-span of Nintendo jockies, but a slower, mystical instrumental might be perfect for KDM. Probably 'Travels of Marco Polo,' by Steve Morse, which includes some Oriental imagery. But again, this would come out entirely different from the overused, overdone Mechs-2-Metal, or Hack-n-Slash-2-Metal.
(Could we call that one Ha-mon-ny? <--bad pun.)
For a fast-moving plot extracted from KDM, you could probably only do 'A' fights 'B' and one of them dies, or 'A' and 'B' fight 'C' and 'B' dies so as to weaken 'C' enough for 'A' to finish the job. Sure, but we've already seen that in the Rammstein-Animatrix AMV. Oh well, MAYBE someone can top that, or put an original spin on it, trick it up w/ AfterEffects** but except for using KDM as an unusual video source, ho-hum.
** though this too is becoming an over-used tool to 'salvage' weaker ideas.
OTOH, you could try for something ENTIRELY SILLY, such as a crossover-spoof entitled "Heian Maid May." Y'know, six layers of kimono and the USB headshell comes out from underneath and rests next to the Go board. Hey - that might make an even match for Fujiwara Sai (Hikaru no Go.)
