Something tells me you're not really frosted flake material. Try atheism. You'll never go back.
I am a christian, and I strongly believe in God, but I dont like how many christians are completely ignorant. For many christians, facing the facts is a scary thing to do. The bible reads like a fable book at most times, and the idea of God can be a scary thing to confront (i.e. if its confronted, they will realize God can't/doesnt exist and that they will become atheists, whom they despise.) I hate taking things on faith, because thats what every religion does, including some very shady ones (i.e. suicide cults, etc). I believe in God because God has impacted my life, answers my prayers, etc. I feel as if God is guiding me in my actions, and that God is always around when amazing things are happening. Maybe it sounds crazy, but I can feel God's presence. I consider myself open minded and I know to some I might sound crazy, but I tend to see issues from the Agnostic perspective and not from the often unfair Christian Right perspective. Back to my point, I go to church and I hear ignorant crap like this on a regular basis. Unfortunately, very few people truly think for themselves, and believe whatever a person of authority (i.e. preacher) says. One week its abortion, the next its the evils of rock and roll. Even though every single anime friend I have (across the country) turns out to (ironically) be a practicing christian, it doesnt surprise me if at least some of the signatures on that useless petition were legitimate, I've heard as bad already.
If it was a joke, I'm not laughing. It enfuriates me as an anime fan and enfuriates me as a well intending and fair minded Christian. Even if the original petition was a joke, some of the signatures are not.

Man, if only. He would be the greatest president ever.

Sounds like we're complete opposites. I'm a born again christian AND a (moderate) liberal (hows that for rare?). You do understand that the anime petition, as well as any other anti-tolerant christian propaganda is REACTIONARY in nature and comes from the hard right wing? Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are ministers, but they are left wing, not right. I doubt they are right wing wolves in liberal sheeps clothing, because that would be betraying their black and minority constituency, something very dear to them. Typically, when there is fear of Reactionary based censorship, the two names that pop up are Ashcroft and Lieberman. Ashcroft is at least percieved as being a homophobe, xenophobe, as well as being devoutly christian and conservative. Lieberman, for some idiotic reason, has plagued his party by suddenly making "censorship," a long time conservative agenda, into the newest democratic craze. Stealing the "balanced budget" idea was a good idea, DEMS, but stealing censorship was just stupid, prepare to lose in 04' (for other reasons as well). If your going to hate Democrats for this type of thing, focus on Lieberman instead of Jackson and Sharpton. Lieberman=bad for Democratic party and American IMHO.
