Oh we're talking imports. Well yes then I have spent quite a lot on import DVDs, sometimes upwards of $90 a disc in some cases. (Shit! I should've included those in my tally)Arigatomyna wrote:I've seen imports that cost $75 for one dvd.Declan_Vee wrote:??? Where are you shopping? With the exception of those: DVD, a box and a t-shirt deals, oh... and Jubei-chan. I don't think I've ever had to pay that much for a DVD.tagarth wrote:NOt worth paying $50 a DVD, never will be.

(For crying out loud)
I am CANADIAN, the land where anime costs half your yearly pay! Normal reguler series, from ADV, Pioneer, Bandai, and manga, cost from $38-60, no box set, no extra crap, just that.
The only way I can get anime cheap is through the net.

Manga usually isn't that expensive in Canada...the most I've paid for it is 26$ and that's for my small little amount of Eva manga (vol. 1-3 so far) and that's becasue they were released way before hand. Most manga I buy now is about 15$ a pop including tax.
DVD wise it depends what company you're buying from. Like, Pioneer/Bandai is usually 50$ Canadian, ADV is about 25$ and Mediablasteres or whatever is about 30$ so it depends. But check things out and browse. Usually the cheaper stuff is at cons. I mean all the stuff I bought last year I got good deals on. ($300 = 4 manga, 1 scout guide, 5 dvds, a wallscroll and a cd)....and another example, I get better prices on certain dvds from an independant store, but then there, ADV is more expensive, so I get anything ADVish from Best Buy etc. Shop around, you'll be surprised what you can find.

This is the main reason I have found myself forced to shop at The Special Store I simply can't afford to pay the high prices. There are a few animes that I do love and do my best to snipe and jump for it if I can find it onsale. Internet orders tend to raise the prices since there is S&H, currency exchange, and duty. Yet you can order vibrators and brocoli pockey from J-list, have it shipped by sea in just two weeks from Japan to Canada for like $6 and never pay duty. Just goes to show. :/Moonlight Soldier wrote:DVD wise it depends what company you're buying from.
