Live Action adaptatioons

Post by DJ_Izumi » Tue Dec 09, 2003 11:55 am

Oh yeah, I didn't know it existed, but it seems to, I found it last night, You're Under Arrest! Live action and will have the whole 9 episode series it in about 10 hours.

Shocking how many anime get adapted into live action, isn't it? GTO, Sailor Moon, several others. I know Utena had a very bad live action adaptation, it's interesting really. G-Saviour the live action Gundam movie. Course, often it seems to be pretty bad; sailor Moon live action has the production quality rougly of porn, heh.

You forgot the infamous HK live action Dragonball? Shame! (then again, that may just be the result of mental repression...)

I definatly don't think that DBZ could look any better live action, especially when most live action productions in Japan are done on a shoe string budget.

I honestly think, I really, REALLY do think that with enough money and artistic skill that an anime could be well adapted to live action, or a story that would have been ment for animation could be done as live action instead. It's a matter of style and presentation, but the typical case is they just rip off the story and add some cheep effects and scream out attacks. The Matrix (The fucking original The Matrix too, not this new bastardization OMG LETZ MAKE MATRIX SUX WITHE RELOADEZ)RZ AND RESOLUTIONZ!!!!!!! MONEY YAY!) was deeply inspired by comic books and anime, it demonstrates that aspects of the 2D world can be imported into the mythical 'Third Dimension' ( To see a graphical demonstration of the Third Dimension we refer you to the Frinkahedron. ) It's just a matter of knowing what the hell you're doing and how to translate the method of showing the visuals.

I love your under arrest live action no crossdressers in it! Anyway the fight scenes are worse than the ones in a 1950s cowboy movie.
Still for 3d chicks they are pretty hot and I have to get the opening song galaxy.

The TV OP for the original YUA! has to be the worst OP in anime history. :X

The first 4ep OVA was good, but then the animation goes down hill after that.

Jackie Chan played Ryo Saeba in City Hunter. And who can forget his portrayal of Chun Li from Street Fighter in that one. :? He also did live action Wicked City. I guess we'd have to through Jean Cluade Van Damme's Street Fighter in with live action anime.

Iria Zeiram was originally a live action B-movie.

There is a live action Dragonball Hong Kong film. Live action Gunhead.

The first time Lupin III hit the screen in 1969 it was live action. This predates the anime.

Erhm, do cosplay porns count? Live action La Blue Girl. H_H

I want to see some of these live action titles, not buy them of course, but maybe if a local anime club was showing them I may go for a laugh.
