the effect connection

how do you know when you plan to use an effect in your music videos? do you know right away what you plan to use or does it come later? as for me i usually know what i want to do after i completed my vids unless ive listened to the song thousands of times and all ready know by listening and planning in thought.

Sleep deprivation helps too.

I've not yet tried alcohol or illegal drugs, but I imagine that those might help me a bit.

Well, for me, it depends. Sometimes I'm going along editing and I think "a white flash would be perfect here" or "I want this section to be a succession of moving crops" (probably the two effects I use the most, come to think of it)... but sometimes I just find that I want to add an effect but I don't know which one. Of course, part of this is due to the fact that I've only done two Premiere videos so far, so I don't quite know all the effects and how best to use them yet.

I know that if I use enough I can pass off a bad video as a good one and noone will know the difference.

all my good ideas and creativity comes when i'm deprived of sleep. Mitternacht was the result of my staying up late looking for music for a music video. both my animix tracks are the result of staying up late. although while editing my first track, i didn't get any effect ideas until a few weeks after i edited most of the video. for me, it just hits me and i try it. but i'm not really an effects person. only do it when i know it's a good idea (which is the best time to use effects
