Well, I don't know what you've seen already, but here's a bunch to get you started:

Mecha (robot) Anime:

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Gasaraki
RahXephon
Neo Ranga
(technically it's not a mecha, but it's still an interesting show)

Violent stuff:

Blood the Last Vampire
Vampire Hunter D, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Biohunter
Ninja Scroll
(not particularly strange, but plenty violent)
X/1999
Bastard!!
(fantasy-themed, but quite violent)

Hope that helps to get ya started.

Some others to consider (not sure what you've seen yet, so I apologize if any of these are repeats):

Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy
Gundam 0080: War In The Pocket
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross (Subbed AnimEigo boxsets...beat the piss out of Robotech)
Aura Battler Dunbine (Kind of an acquired taste show, but I'd still recommend it)
Shin Getter Robo: Armageddon (Actually, this works under violent as well...nice combo cheezy super robot action, some bloody violence, and a surprisingly dark storyline)
Full Metal Panic!

Violent:
Berserk (chances are you've prob. already seen this, but if not...shame!)

That movie sucked. If it were a promo for a TV series, it would have worked well. But since it isn't....

For Mecha, I recommend

Super Dimension Fortress Macross
Martian Successor Nadesico
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Full Metal Panic (has some mecha)
Mobile Police Patlabor

For Violent, I would go with
Mezzo Forte
Blood: The Last Vampire
Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust

Personally, I kinda liked Blood. I mean, sure it's not plot-heavy, but it's a decent action/horror flick. Also, I feel it had about as much plot as one of those standalone episodes of the X-Files. You know, the ones which didn't have anything to do with the alien virus-carrying bees that were fed with infected corn or whatever the hell was going on in the overall plot of that show. (been awhile, so I don't remember).

Back to the point: if you take Blood for what it is, it can be quite entertaining.

i dont think i will get blood, i don't like any game/tv series/anything you watch that doesn't have a good story line.
