something has to be done
it seems like i see more and more live action videos on the local server, there has to be something done. I'm sure phade is getting tired of having to go and clean out these from the donut.
heres a couple suggestions:
On the anime selection area, when adding a new video to the database, maybe in large, red, bold letters put a warning about using anything besides anime or videogames.
some sort of keyword blocker(boolean possibly), when trying to enter a new vid, again in the anime selection segment of entering a new video.
lastly, going a little from the previous one, a boolean upload blocker. for instance, after you put the info, and you go to upload, if it uses a certain source, restrict it from being added.
~~~
im not sure how hard or easy this would be, but it would keep the local server, a little cleaner from certain videos.
Indeed. I think this is a great idea.
It's almost like I should be getting paid for the monthly sweeps I do. =p(I'm kidding, yes).
Although this would probably not solve the problem. Right now I only search for "non-anime" in the anime/category box on the super search to get vids I report.
If you blocked out certain keywords like non-anime, there's still the people that simply don't check the box "non-anime" in category, and there's plenty of "anime"(Family guy) that arn't entered in the database with "(non-anime)" next to the name.
So while you're eliminating live-action videos, you still have the cartoons to deal with...
The only way I can see solving that problem would get a list of every cartoon and put it in that list of keywords you were talking about.
... And that'd just be a hassle.
What I think Phade should do, is actually follow his own rules. He says that if you upload non-anime, you get banned. Tons of people are uploading non-anime, and none of them are getting banned.
I believe if they actually got banned, they might think twice about entering non-anime on the donut.
Just my two cents.
I totally agree with SQ. If people abuse the local drive and upload freak'n live action BS then they should punished. something like:
first offense: 1 week ban
second offense: 1 month ban
third offense: 1 year ban
<clean slate after the year ban is over or after a year if you don't have a year ban>
I really don't wanna download something that says "crazy kitties" and have it be a 30 sec clip from Americas Funniest Animals. It's a waste of bandwidth and server space.
There are also questionable AMVs that could be considered a waste of server space. There's one called "Big Butts and Misato" which all it does is loop the same 5 second clip over and over again to the song "Baby Got Back".
Hey,
The storage server has been running for more than 6 months and is currently 75% blank. The idea that the storage server is about to run out of space is a myth. The idea that these junk videos are massivly wasting bandwidth is also a myth because people aren’t downloading crap videos all the time (it’s actually GOOD videos that use the most bandwidth because they are downloaded the most). I am currently moving into a new house and having to remodel some parts of it (I’ve just completed refinishing the floors, w00t!) so my free time is currently very limited.
Storage rules do seem to be “sliding” from an outside point of view, but I am aware of the videos that shouldn’t be here. I’m working on tools to help more easily identify and remove videos that shouldn’t be around, anime entries that should be consolidated and things like that. All of these tools MUST be completed and running before the end of the year so that the VCA can run smoothly.
Give it a little more time. These people will be [cracks knuckles] taken care of...
why cant you just make it refuse any non anime AMVs listed for upload? i mean, you have to input what anime is in the AMV before you can upload right? (i dont remember, its been a long time)
so like, make a list of all the non anime thats been input into the data dace's list, and tell the server just to not accept that.
it wont STOP non anime vids from being uploaded, but it will slow some down.
just a thought
would these tools be something that the mods would use, or are they something that will run in the background?
Hey,
XenoDrake: If that were the case, "Right Now Someone Is Watching This Video" would not have been uploaded because it contains a scene of non-anime.
ZeWrestler: The ultimate decision as to if a video is approprite for the Donut will be up to a human. The system tools will just bring attention to videos that should be looked at.
Lyrs: There will be all kinds of checks and reporting tools. I'm sure that somewhere there will be a checkbox.
Still working on it... ^_^
Sorta late in the game here, but I always sorta figured this followed sorta like AWA's rules, where in,
You have to have something like 75% anime / video game footage (something made by an animators hand, weather on computer or cell) to actually register as an anime music video.
Perhaps not, I dunno.
AWA doesnt have any rules against non anime footage as it doesnt have an anime-only contest.
