This is the way I see it. Final Fantasy 7 ended in such a way that it really felt there wasnt much room for a sequel afterwards. The game ends, we see the Powerfactories shut down and abandoned (almost to signify the end of advanced civilation, and the last shot of Final Fantasy 7 takes place 500 years after the game ends. It had a very strong sense of finality, there was no feeling that a sequel was needed to satisfy storyline concerns. However, people have really wanted a sequel because FF7 has some of the best characters, and some of the best gameplay in the series. The way I see it, just jumping up and doing a sequel to FF7 would seem a little disconnected, like the Matrix sequels. However, from what I understand "advent children" is actually supposed to explain a "new evil." Thats the whole purpose of the movie from what I've read. It pretty much seems like a setup for something beyond that if you ask me. Normally, I'd be suspicious, but considering the release of FFX2, and breaking the long standing rule that no FF can have a sequel, I really think this is their goal here.
Spoiler box please
OR JUST CATCH UP WITH THE TIMES!!!! if you did that you wouldnt have to worry about spoilers

Square Enix was quoted as saying that it was an extremely low priority due to backwards compatability with the original game, but it hadn't been ruled out. So really, it ain't gonna happen.

oh my, how about just seeing spoilers anyway and dealing with it? Happened to me, it doesnt detract much from a show. Its just like old plays where they tell you whats gonna happen, its called ...some kind of drama....dont remember which. But meh. But if you dont wanna get spoilers then catch up, and if you dont want too, either deal with reading spoilers when someone posts them w/o making it known, or just dont read any threads at any anime message board!

I'd like to see a sequal to 6 or 7, that'd be pretty cool. But still, Final Fantasy isn't really a sequel type of game. I'd rather see them revisit an old style with new ideas. Maybe a recreation of Final Fantasy 6 with advanced side quests, character stuff, and different systems of leveling up and that kind of stuff.

Like I said, I didnt give anything away AND BELIEVE ME, IN FF7 there are MUCH BIGGER THINGS TO GIVE AWAY! Such as:
Spoiler wrote:This Spoiler box is pretty dumb. It almost hurts more to have information right there and have curiousity nibbling at you. Oh yeah and Aeris becomes enpregnated by Sephiroth's sword.
Also theres a pretty significant difference between FF7 (or really any early playstation game) and DBZ. FF7 is 7 years old (which in video game years is an eternity) and because of this may be hard to come by (or expensive). Even if you get it (used), it will probably have difficulty playing on your PS2, most of which often "choose" whether its going to read CD's only or DVD's only (honestly folks, give playstation2 enough time it will do this). My first PS2 simply stopped reading DVD's after owning it for only 8 months. If you have a playstation1, those probably stopped working a while ago. FF7 is a hard game to play (for the first time) these days, and because of this, very few people are able to get it and make it work. DBZ can be easily downloaded off of Kazaa, or watched on Toonami. But then again, nothing important has been given away, and if you saw the trailer for advent children then you were exposed to 10 times the spoilers I exposed you to. (you can pretty much watch the trailer in other words)

Well anyway, good luck getting a hold of FF7 (and getting it to play). Its worth it.[/i]

Actualy BECAUSE it's an old game you can probably get a platinum.
That's what i bought anyway....
I don't think FF7-2 will be as good as the original.
Frankly, i'm mad at Square for ruining the best RPG ever!

The whole 'new Evangelion' thing has been bounced around for years now, but I don't link there's going to be anything new now (besides the live action film).

I agree with the whole Sephiroth clone speculation. I think people are doing the same thing now as they were when the first MGS3 trailer was released and people were puzzling over the fact that 'Snake' only had one eye.
