Um, actually, the "Renewal of Evangelion" project refers to the complete remastering of the entire series that was released in just the past year or two in Japan. I don't know whether or not it'll ever find its way over here.kearlywi wrote:As far as Eva, heres what the "renewed" eva is reffering to:
"The redone episodes are different versions of episodes 21-24 that were done for the Japanese video market. They add around 15 minutes of extra footage across the 4 episodes that help explain the series more fully and also retouch various scenes. They are available on LD, VHS and DVD in Japan but unavailable in other parts of the world."
Ask Absolute Destiny. He's got the Renewal box set, if that picture he posted was accurate.

A sequal to 7 would not be a great idea.I won't get into detail because eveyone has already said the good reasons. However a prequal to 7 would be increcdibly awesome.I mean think about it,They may actually explain what all happened that went unanswered in the game.Like exactly the side story with Vincent/Lucrecia/Hojo i think that would be cool.

After the star wars prequels, and dumb and dumberer (and others, I forget), I'm beggining to get pretty sick of prequels. Granted prequels work well in games that are less story based, like Resident Evil 0, but the drawback of prequels is that they never seem to end well, and it feels like everything is rehashed, since you already know how the original game started. That being said though, I'd take a prequel in addition to a sequel. Better than nothing. I think instead of a prequel, a side story would be a nice game. Start before FF7 starts, learn about/play as Vincent/Lucrecia/Hojo, etc. And finish the game after after FF7 ends. Kind of like RE3. A spinoff game that takes place at roughly the same time. Only problem is that this would feel rehashed too, so In my opinion a sequel offers the best opportunity for fresh material of the three.Alex_Dragon wrote:A sequal to 7 would not be a great idea.I won't get into detail because eveyone has already said the good reasons. However a prequal to 7 would be increcdibly awesome.I mean think about it,They may actually explain what all happened that went unanswered in the game.Like exactly the side story with Vincent/Lucrecia/Hojo i think that would be cool.

I honestly would prefer a remake over a sequel to any FF game. To see FF6 or 4 in PS2 graphics! Revamped character designs and different tweaks in the story! Kinda like the Resident Evil remake. *So PRETTY!* I wish I could see the FF7 remake . . . ;_; I think remakes just make the original story more interesting, like the Utena Movie or Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. But I'm still excited about Advent Children. How can one not be? ^_____^
The Magnificent Seven [Britt has just shot a fleeing bandit off his horse.]
Chico: That was the greatest shot I've ever seen.
Britt: The worst! I was aiming at the horse.

In case you missed my previous post (or scintilla's) there is no "new" evangelion series, just a "remastered" one. Considering the way it ended, it would be absolutely amazing if they made one, because it is pretty damn near impossible to make a sequel unless they changed the ending. Even still, when Eva ended, I really wanted a sequel, even though a sequel would be illogical.
I have to agree that FF6 would be an AWESOME remake. A lot of people don't know this, but Square started to make a N64 version of FF6 a few years before N64 came out (lol, the N64 project was called "project reality" back then). The project was scrapped when Sony bought the exclusive rights to Final Fantasy in (I believe) 1996. I saw a few screenshots in Nintendo Power (The gaming magazine of the time), and I began to make plans to buy the next generation Nintendo system (which was believed to be the next great system, the heir to the great SNES, until sony came out of nowhere and just took over).
I have always wished that they had finished the 3d version of FFVI, probably the most popular game in the series among hardcore FF fans (its not my favorite and I am not just making this up, I've seen it proven in several polls). I think remaking it on even Playstation 1 graphics would be awesome. If they did it on PS2 (or PS3) graphics, that would be even better. FFVI had some of the best gameplay in the series (with fun, interactive abilities such as "blitz" and "slot."), and really the only thing that could make the game better is improving its graphics (which were very good for its time).
