unansewered problem in local downloads

Post by foxgrl » Tue Nov 18, 2003 9:33 pm

Okay just to be safe, I seriously read all of the bords on local downloads, I even checked out moon's guide. But none of them helped.

The problem is that I go thru all the procedures till I get to the local download page, 10 sec later the save box comes up, I click save, then another box comes up and i click save again, the first save box told me the file name, the file type and from, the second box just gave me the same 4 options. Save, open, cancle, more info.

once again I click save and the save as page comes up, only this time the file name is downloadlocal and the only option for the save as type is all files, nothing else, and when I save it to this I get a php document.

I tried changing the file name to the correct one with .avi, or what the file type was, the apperance of the file changed to one that could be played in wmp but It won't play, in any of my players, it opens up and right when it does it closes.

there is nothing on it, just like an empty file, I don't get this problem 4 direct or indirect downloads, I have wireless connection, and I am not behind a firewall that would limit my action on the internet, I double checked it. can someone possibly help?

You're getting this error with all local vids? If it's just one, it could be the vid - if it's all of them, it's a problem on your end.

But either way, try cancelling the boxes that pop up (if you're getting two) and right click save-as on the little link [if the download doesn't start automatically click 'here'] on the page you're taken to. That should give you just one box that will let you save the vid normally.

And you might try the 'cure-all' solution and clear your cookies. It can't hurt. ^_^;

are you using a download manager?

some download managers have issues with local downloads

try disabling it or uninstalling it before you download next time

try getting the opera browser(yes i know its not going directy at the problem, but sometimes IE is retarded)

its available at http://www.opera.com theres a free version, which works the same as the full version, it jsut has a banner in the top corner of the browser itself(not on the pages)
