Anime submissons for becoming an Oscar nominee

Post by angelx03 » Thu Nov 13, 2003 12:15 am

From http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=4335,
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Millennium Actress, Pokemon Heroes and Patlabor WXIII have all been submitted for Oscars. Additionally, Hollywood Reporter states that "word on the street" is that Cowboy Bebop: The Movie has also been submitted. Each of these films has been submitted in hopes that it will be nominated for the best animated feature at the 74th annual Academy Awards.
Any thoughts?

It's about time! If they can reward some fatass scam artist (Michael Moore) with an Oscar for pushing an anti-gun agenda by altering the truth with film editting and his "showmanship", they sure as hell can put something decent in the Academy Awards to make up for all that French chick-flick crap.

Pokemon Heroes? If Pokemon Heroes wins an Oscar, then there is no God.

Not that I believed in him in the first place.

Cowboy bebop is an excellent movie.

But pokemon?
POKEMON?

If there is a God, he loves seeing grown men cry.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

After reading the ANN article I have no doubt that Finding Nemo will get it.

I dont feel Anime has enough respect here in the USA yet to compete on equal terms. Dont get me wrong I think Anime is well on its way to getting that respect but it will be a few more years.

I loved that movie, absolutely loved it. It got quite a few good marks a Cean (Caen?) too. Then CNN showed the footage of the Columbine Kids shooting Bowling pins, and I was laughing mah butt off. :D

Millinnium Actress is probably deserving of the title.
But of course, everyone knows that pokemon is by FAR the best movie.

I disagree. Toecutter nailed it. It's already been proven that Michael Moore planned/faked some of the scenes and did a lot of fairly unethical things to push his agenda. I don't get why everyone kisses his ass so much. He does a lot of things that hurt and could potentially kill people.

As for this thread, I hope Millenium Actress wins. The movie is phenomenal and the soundtrack the best thing since Yoko Kanno for Bebop (IMO).
