for Columbine and 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Stanley Kubrick classic was enjoyable, but it
really left me scratching my head at the very end. Those who have seen it already know what I'm
talking about. For those of you who haven't, the movie has a plot, but it doesn't matter, the
visuals are the main attraction. I should have been told this from the get go.
Spoilers and Opinions!
Give me your opinions if you've seen both movies. If not, then these are some must watchI felt like comparing the ending of 2001 to the events in End of Evangelion because they seemed so similar, but I feel like it's taking the easy way out in
describing what the ending truly is by saying it's the same ending. In a way, you could say that Dave turning into the space
baby, or the Star Child as fans of the movie have called it, could be similar to Rei turning into the
giant form of Lilith. The images of Dave aging into an old man and reaching for the monolith
could mean that he reached out to discover the final stage of evolution, the giant entity hovering
over Earth. He was reaching for the monolith in the same way primitive man touched the
monolith and discovered technology. In End of Evangelion, all of mankind loses their physical
shape and join into Lilith, the giant entity standing on top of Earth. This is the final phase of
evolution. Maybe it's all from the same religious beliefs, I'll have to do some better
research.
movies. Careful with 2001 though, it hardly makes any sense at all.
