What is a good opinion to you?

I like opinion makers who actually take the freakin bother to READ the description of the video BEFORE making an opinion. I've got one opinion on my Twist Of AMV and although I got fairly decent scores they told me I used too much of the one space battle... o_O

And I'm just like...um...the whole video was ABOUT the space battle, hence the reason I used it. Hence the reason I go off on a whole paragraph tangent about it in the description.

I'm the kind of AMV maker who makes videos that most people either love, or they just absolutely hate them. My star ratings usually read like:

And then I wind up with a 3.00 average.

i like my ops to be thorough, i like criticism if its constructive, i dont like "OMG that vidoe suked u r lame i h8 u now."

I also like the detailed opinions. To me, details are especially important when pointing out the flaws. A generalized statement isn't usually helpful unless examples of such are given, since it's hard to tell what sections exactly people are talking about if they say that "some scenes were _____" or "one part was ______". There are a lot of scenes in any given video, so it can be difficult to guess which one is being referenced unless it is described or a timestamp is given. That's why I like the ops that will go into the specifics.

Does anyone relize that a score like 5 is average, it's not bad, just average... always seems like a bummer when I get a 7, but thats STILL way above average (2 points) so, meh.

Reasons for everything. If you liked it, why (this is actually harder to get); if you hated it, why. And not just "this sucks," I mean "the timing is all off" or "the mood of the visuals doesn't match the song" or "this makes no sense."

And not just "good" but "the timing was really on" or whatever. There IS a reason for this opinion you have; that's what I need to know. If you like/hate it, peachy keen, but that doesn't really help me as a vidder.

Also, if you don't know what's going on, don't assume it's awesome and you just don't get it. I've had a terrible time with overrating for one of my vids because I picked an obscure character and most people just assume they don't get it, so they rate high so as to not appear "dumb." It's not their fault; I just built a whole vid around somebody who only carries two eps.

In other words, give your honest opinion, no matter what it is. "I have no idea what you were going for here" is a very valid comment.

I've had a problem with overrating, so I think I'll try to ignore the ratings from now on and just concentrate on the comments.

I've brought this up before. It seems many people give 'average' videos a 7, just as a teacher would give an 'average' student a C, which I found weird because a rating scale is not a grade. oh well, the average '7' has been used so much that there's nothing u can do to change it.

i still give averages of 5-6. i just hope people dont interpret my 6s as below average.

i just like them, good or bad, i want to know what people think, thus i try to tell others what i think as clearly as i can.

i have been going back and redoing some of my older OPs cuz they were just like 5 words and i didnt feel good about that. seems to have helped out my usefullness score too *AIM kissy face*
