While they show is obviously initially aimed at "kids".. there are some REALLY dark and mature themes in the show. A lot of what people say they dislike stems from the first season, and I can totally understand that... it was season two that got me hooked.

Let it be known up front that I never read comics as a kid, and wasn't a prior X-Men fan, though :P

But yeah, season two onwards has some fantastic material. While it retains a sense of humor since the mutants are almost all in high school, it still really goes for very deep plot elements. Hell, they were alluding to Apocalypse for seasons before he showed up. Little things that they mention seasons ago come back to haunt them again, later in the show.

It's things like that which REALLY put Evolution waaaay above any other typical "cartoon" on the air, these days.

Unfortunately, there's only one episode left in the fourth season... and it might be the last of the series. I hear that they'll know in the coming weeks whether they're approved for a fifth season (but it ain't lookin' good).

The whole problem is the fact they don't stick to the original plot. But character development on that show is awesome, especially with Rogue. What Cartoon Network really needs to do is run the original X-Men cartoon during prime time (they could run it at 10pm, then run Evolution at 10:30pm as a nice contrast).

Only if the show had more of the anti-Mutant movement plotline thrown in, there'd be more material to do a fifth season.

And it would make it less laughable, considering the anti-mutant hatred is the basis of the X-men, and what makes it interesting. :?
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

Maybe the fifth season could throw in the guys from the future like Bishop or Cable. :roll:

Why tell the exact same story twice? I, for one, really like how they tell a story very similar to the original, but in their own way.

Things I'd like to see in future Evolution ? Rogue get some permanent powers, Spyke leave for good, and Phoenix o.o;;

Ah, you like the Phoenix saga? Man, my sister seriously HATED that since it lasted for like TEN parts, 5 for Phoenix and the other 5 for Dark Phoenix. She keeps on rambling that Jean sucks. Probably because she likes Rouge. :roll:

I would like to see what they did with the Phalanx. That's not an easy storyline to convert.

As you can see from my profile, I have quite a fondness for X-Men Evolution myself. :) *~Plug~*

However, being an X-Men fan, I can honestly say that the first season broke my heart. I mean, I almost cried. I was angry and confused. But season two was better, and season three was even better than that, and season four...

Well lets just say that my heart has mended and I cried tears of joy durring the last episode. Now that's quite an improvment!

I have them all recorded on my computer, and my girlfriend gets to watch them without the suspense of having to wait a week for the next episode. We watched six episodes in a row from season 2 where she stopped watching a few years ago. It's great to share that with her. Anyways, I'm getting all teary eyed again...

Peace.

The last episode seems like they're forshadowing the fifth or even the sixth season. And from the looks of it, they're going to introduce the Phoenix Saga.
