I realize that they're allowed, but that doesn't change the fact that it is an anime con. Or AWA is properly an AMV con.
If you make AMVs, send them to an AMV/anime con. If you make fanvids, send them to a media con or a con for the fandom they're made from (like a SF/fantasy con). It isn't that difficult, people.

If there's a music video contest that's designed to include non-anime videos, then maybe you'd expect to see non-anime videos winning it. But we would you think that things that are not AMVs should do well in AMV contests?

Holy shit, and suddenly I thought this was startrekmusicvideos.org! Sarah, will you PLEASE for the love of god, quit being so fucking condescending and patronizing? Every once in awhile, it's endearing, but when it's every single goddamn post, it gets old and quite irritating quite fast.SarahtheBoring wrote:I realize that they're allowed, but that doesn't change the fact that it is an anime con. AWA has a Video Art Track.
One of the honchos there, (Quu, I think?) specifically invited people here to enter a personal Babylon 5 video challenge.
AWA is far more welcoming to a wider variety of video fanart than any other anime centered con I'm aware of.
Others will make their own categories and rules as they wish, and no doubt some will welcome various game/trailer/parody categories.
People just need to pay attention to what is and is not accepted in any given contest, and submit accordingly.
