Love the song, but I don't like the idea. I'm guessing you're referring to the SSJ auras? To me, that song would not work well as an action video, and let's face it, if you're going to use super sayijins, there's gonna be action.BloodyCard wrote:311 - amber (slow song with good lyrics to high paced action matching the lyrics) "amber is the color of your energy"

There's more to coming up with original ideas for a done-to-death anime than "one line in this song fits."
Instead of just the song/anime correlation, what you need is a concept. A way to use the anime and capture a message that has not been done before, be it whatever genre.
Example: with the right song and careful scene selection, make DBZ look like a hentai title. THERE'S originality. If sick originality.

Heh, that's would be the problem. ^_^; Though I've seen some Roshii tributes that had enough breast shots and tit squeezes to count as light hentai... ~_~;;BishounenStalker wrote:Example: with the right song and careful scene selection, make DBZ look like a hentai title. I've seen some very original dbz vids, but no one watches them because they're too original - they go too far from what most dbz fans love about the anime and mock it, make it into a parody. Originality is nice for the non-dbz fans, especially if the vid goes really far out on a limb to go against the main theme of the anime. But you risk alienating your target audience if you expect a majority of dbz fans to enjoy the parody.
And you *can* do original vids with this anime without mocking it or twisting the footage to fit into some unrelated genre. As many vids as there are for this anime, there are still stories that haven't been told - and *many* stories that haven't been told successfully. I'd name some, but honestly I'd rather keep them to myself since I do make dbz vids. ^_^;
Just keep in mind, there is such a thing as AU - you see it in fanfiction, and you can do it in vids as well. The key is keeping the main theme or aspects of the anime that make you like it as a series - while arranging the plot to create something altogether different. ^_~

Not to mention that with the right music as a backdrop and the footage slowed down enough, the power-up screaming can look pretty hentai-ish, too. And don't get me started on some of the fight shots and facial expressions.... With a bit of creative editing, it CAN be done....::is sorely tempted::Arigatomyna wrote:Heh, that's would be the problem. ^_^; Though I've seen some Roshii tributes that had enough breast shots and tit squeezes to count as light hentai... ~_~;;
Good point. I guess I'm the type who would make DBZ videos for the non-fans or the fans who are still sane enough to take a joke. Heck, the next Eva vid I'm planning will either cause mass anneurisms or have the fanboy population beating down my door in a murderous rage.I've seen some very original dbz vids, but no one watches them because they're too original - they go too far from what most dbz fans love about the anime and mock it, make it into a parody. I've only seen a handful of REALLY good DBZ vids that weren't parodies, DBZ_Doomrider's "Turn the Page" being at the top of the list (shamelessly plugging him). It really does have some some decent dramatic material to work with, and it's a shame that gets ignored in favor of pointless action vids.
Very, VERY true. Especially since there are so many under-developed and otherwise-cool-but-blatantly-ignored characters (one of my major peeves about the series. Too big a cast, most of it thrown to the sidelines). Those are great avenues to explore, and even a way to get those poor discarded people the showcase they never received in canon.And you *can* do original vids with this anime without mocking it or twisting the footage to fit into some unrelated genre. Another good point. Although I tend to be very picky about AU (then again, I'm getting pickier about fanfic as a whole anyway ~_~;; ). But I suppose the bottom line is "just because this combination hasn't been done doesn't make it an original video." ESPECIALLY where something as used and abused as DBZ is concerned.Just keep in mind, there is such a thing as AU - you see it in fanfiction, and you can do it in vids as well. Lol. Have you seen the 'Grappler Baki Yaoi' vid? He did just what you're talking about. ^_^;; After seeing that vid I've had *so* much trouble keeping similar parodies out of my head when it comes to dbz (and other fighting anime). I mean...almost every long fight in the anime has its share of those usable scenes - and with a fan like me it's *very* hard to resist that temptation. ^_^;;BishounenStalker wrote:Not to mention that with the right music as a backdrop and the footage slowed down enough, the power-up screaming can look pretty hentai-ish, too. But can you see me trying to get people to try a regular dbz vid if they see me do a parody like that? I'd completely alienate half the fans, annoy and insult the over-obsessed fans, and risk the possibility that only a few catch the blatant humor in the parody. Doesn't mean I won't do it some day, but I'll wait till I've worn out my legitimate dbz ideas first. ^_~
