Don't use definitive based language, it shows a lack of intelligence.
? I'm sorry, I don't understand... what is "definitive based language" ?
If my sentence was incorrect, please know that English is not my mother language, sometimes I'm not able to say what I think with the good nunance...
Of course there are people who do great video at the first time, but they are rare...
Not as rare as you might think. Although if most of what you download is DBZ videos, then yeah, I guess I can see why you might think that.
I try to download some "new vids on the block" as often as I can. It's easy for you to say that, as you just said you download "first videos" only when they have 1 or 2 ops...
rare means that the percentage of good first videos is low...I keep what I said here...and many first videos are DBZ ones, like it or not...
And what you said is really funny, because I really don't like DBZ videos, and I download one or two sometimes because they are said to be really good, or because I want to have a good laugh.
So would you like to be flamed for that ? I think not.
You can try if you like. I actually like harsh criticism. But uh, the thing to remember, when you give it, I sometimes like to hit back. ^_^
I didn't want to criticize your video or something like that... sorry if I didn't use the right words again... I was just saying that receiving harsh comments for one's first video is always bad...
Most creators learn about the org once they'v done one or two videos and had friends who told them "wow, it's terrific"...then they come, and start to learn what "terrifc" videos really are, and then they improve...
They do? I've found that there are generally two types of creators, those who strive to improve and those that simply don't. And most people fall into the category of "simply don't".
Yes...that's what I said in my post, just below
Those who don't improve after dozens of videos deserve bad reviews. But not the newbies.
I was actually refering more to the people who release like 5 videos at a time, every two weeks or so, churnin out slop like nobodys business.
Agreed.

Hem...I didn't want to attack you ... it's like you're trying to make me angry or something... I don't understand... was there something that made you angry in my post ???

Don't take it personal, he seems to like this sort of thing. And I've seen his reviews - if you don't give him good scores (no matter how much you explain *why* you scored some parts lower), he tears your vids apart with 3s and 4s - even if they don't deserve it. And he uses big words and sarcasm to justify his scores, rather than explaining anything in a helpful manner.

As for 'definitive language' - just think of that as saying something like it's a fact - "our mission statement is". It doesn't make you sound unintelligent at all, not if it's true. He's just trying to get you with his 'big words + sarcasm' attack. And sadly, it's not working.

Just don't bother with this one. :?

Using words like "all", "never", "always" when describing things. It's sort of like being stereotypical. There are usually exceptions to every rule.

It's generally a good idea to use words like "most", "usually", "probably" that way it shows that you acknowledge that there might be some people who don't fit into the norm.
I didn't want to criticize your video or something like that... sorry if I didn't use the right words again... I was just saying that receiving harsh comments for one's first video is always bad...
Ah, ah, ah, you're using definitive based language again, where you said "always". I for example don't fit into that category, when I made my first video and got really good scores on it, I felt some what cheated, like the general standards were too low or something. I personally would have liked some harsher criticism for my first couple vids.

I've gotten to the point now where I usually act like an asshole to people just so that they'll critique my work harder. Because once you reach that point, where you release vids and most people rate it at all 10s, well then where do you go from there? It's like you've reached an impass or something. *shrugs* I dunno, maybe that's just me, I don't know if anyone else is like that or not.

I don't really ever get angry, I think it's just me, I have kind of a combative nature, it's hard to supress it sometimes. ^_^

btw, not sarcasm, most great amv's are not flukes, so check out profiles of video creators that you like their videos.
OMG DUN LISSEN TO TIHS NOOB HE DUSNT KONW WUT HES TLAKLING ABOUT

i agree that ACTUAL NOOBS like to crank out videos by the barrelfull when they get an episode of something dled. but not all new creators are noobs, so i have to agree with prophetdk (i think it was prophetdk that said it) in that you could usually with some effort find good amvs that use dbz if you look for them, either just learn some patience or learn to avoid them if you don't wanna go through the hassle, but if you do come upon a dbz video, give it a fair rating (as if it used any other anime that i would assume you don't loathe).

*sigh*

All caps means sarcasm, why do I always have to explain these things to you, ROY? And I've expressed my view on topics very similar to this several times already.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Come on, Roy, would I really be mean to you?

Anyway, this thread doesn't need to be derailed anymore.

so does everyone who still follows this topic agree that the database is not in danger of overpopulation of vids... yet?
of course there will come a time when we need space, but if this is going to be a utopia, should videos really get dled according to some system (star ratings for example) or should we just get more space like the original plan was?
