*awaits the obligatory Evanescene parody AMV, in the same vein as the handful of Linkin Park parody AMVs*

Like have the band team up with some famous chef for a tv show. you could call it, Evanescene of Emirel.

Isn't Hara-kiri (or Hari-kiri) an occidental misreading of the (real) word Sepuku ?

I believe they're two different procedures... like hara-kiri is just running yourself through, but seppuku involves slashes, or something like that.

No one bothers to go out and pay a few bucks to get a dvd, they always go to KaZaa, or some site, and get them. My cosin was like that. He has is whole computer (of 100 GB) filled up, and 82GB of that is DBZ crap he got off KaZaa. I told him this:

"those clips are so bad quality. Why don't you just have your dad get you a dvd or something."

"But it's so much easier to get them off KaZaa"

"well, they are horrible. You can't make AMV's with that!"

"Yeah i can, and they are the best!"

*my cousin plays one of them*

"That would be so much better if you got them as a dvd."

"Well, i don't care! Other people will say that they are good! I mean, I can get these so easily"

This is just 1 example of the fact that it is way to easy to get DBZ clips anymore. People are beginning to not care about quality, they want quantity and fast!
Well, with DBZ, you'd have to buy 3 or four DVDs to make 1 3 minute vid. But he could at least use LogoAway and other filters to clean it up.

Or 9 dvds to make a 4 minute vid. :? No one said making a high quality vid was easy or cheap.

But that's really off the subject here - back to 'bring me to life' and the Japanese style suicide people have decided to discuss.

difference between hara-kiri and seppuku: attitude.

It's the same word, but read as 'seppuku' it means "ritual suicide", not always in the traditional form (cut your vitals open and have an attendant cut off your head with a sword if you're a man , stab yourself through the throat and into the brain if you're a woman). The 'hara-kiri' reading is more literal, "belly-cutting", and is used by people opposed to the practice or those who want to deromanticize it.

Either way, it's one of the most horribly painful ways that humans have yet invented to end their own lives. You're theoretically supposed to suffer silently as you bleed to death from a slash through your intestines, but as hardly anyone can ever do this in practice, leading to the custom of post-cut decapitation, allowing the suicide to die without the indignity of screaming and whatnot. Even then, it's not always easy. Yukio Mishima's attendant was a student who didn't really know how to use a sword, and it took him three hits to take the head off. This was with one of the best antique blades in private hands, so Mishima had to suffer not only disembowlment but two rather deep and heavy cuts into his neck and shoulders before dying.

Odd that this came up....as Evanescence on repeat is one of the most horribly painful ways that humans have yet invented to waste their spare time.

I disagree, since "Fallen" is the only album in my collection that I can listen to without hitting the Skip button.
