The Japanese bitch laugh

Post by Madzack » Thu Oct 09, 2003 2:34 am

The Japanese bitch laugh.

I came up with the term on my own after viewing characters like Kodachi from Ranma 1/2 and Sumire from Sakura Taisen.

I mean, it always like this; this shifty smalled eyed girls would always cover their mouths with their backs of a wrist everytime they open their mouths and laugh evilly.

Can you really handle the Japanese bitch laugh?

Heh, Sailormoon and Magic Knight Rayearth can be added to that list. Lots more, I'm sure. It seems to be a common 'evil female' stereotype. ^_^

And don't forget Naga!

Maria Kawamaru (Naga's VA) has a perfect a perfect Japanese 'bitch' laugh. Naga's character is supposed to take the laugh way over the top. I'd say the normal condescending laugh would be like Ayeka form Tenchi Muyo. More exagerated than that is hyperbole.

Hey,

Its actually rather amusing at first, but can become quickly annoying if overdone to much.

Some of my favorite anime women are the ones who do that laugh...

like Sumire from Sakura Wars
and Nanami from Utena
and Kodachi from Ranma 1/2
and even Karin from Street Fighter does one in her opening pose.

Love 'em!

Bitch laugh? Hmm, I always called it the diva laugh.
Probably too busy to be here right now.

I always thought this was because it's considered crude for a woman to show her teeth in Japanese culture.

'Course my cultural knowledge is sketchy, so I could be wrong.
