pedophelia has become very extreme lately with the internet and IM chats becoming more common in every household. Pedophiles are taking aliases of young boys and convincing young girls to meet them in public, and thats when rapes and kidnappings happen. or they get the girl to send them explicit pictures of themselves, pretending to be a modeling director, and then they blakcmail them into meeting them in public or something. People like that are sick fucks and should be shot.

it's possible, considering that hormones can do a lot of stuff. taht girl must have been aging at least twice as fast. but it doesn't matter though. it is wrong, and it's sick.Corran Productions wrote:I don't know how valid this is but...

to get rid of the confusion, consentual sex is not legal until both partners are 18 or over.
it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks or says, 18 or no sex.

A quick clear up:
Pedophilia is an obsession (usually sexual) with pre-pubescent children. An obsession with post-pubescent children is called something else, but the term escapes me.
I find pedophilia to be wrong, not just because of some base reaction, but also because it suggests a mental derangement and emotional immaturity, in addition to a lack of willpower AND GENERAL, COWARDLY, WEAKNESS.
The pedophile is a sub-human, because he cannot restrain his wrong-headed impulses, and because he coerces, preys on, and bribes the vulnerable for his own sexual gain - this makes him no different from a college boy slipping a "rape drug" into a girl's drink.
Pedophilia is not acceptable.

I'm strongly against it in theory - their minds can't grasp what they're getting into, even if they *do* consent. Children just aren't mature enough to make that sort of decision.
But then, once a person hits puberty (physical), I don't consider him/her a child anymore. [And for the record, yes, a girl can get pregnant at 9, but only if she's hit puberty years earlier than most - until she starts menstruation, she can't get pregnant, that's simple human biology.] As far as sexual maturity goes, once a girl starts having to deal with the stress of menstruation, she's old enough to start making decisions about her body. Pedophilia in older times (not the greeks, the english) involved an average girl being 13 when she married and started having babies - puberty being the key difference between child and woman.
If you can make a baby, you're not a child anymore. The same with boys - once they hit puberty and can produce a child, they aren't children anymore (a boy old enough to start masturbating is old enough to start making decisions about his body the same as females). But that doesn't mean it isn't the teen's choice. Taking advantage of someone young and confused is the same as a person molesting a mentally handicapped person - if they aren't mature enough mentally to make the decision, there's no excuse to push them physically. I don't care if the person is 15 or 35 - if he/she isn't mature enough mentally it's still wrong.

It actually does depend on what country you are in. Here in Australia, its 16, and in Japan, its 13 (i kid you not, I didn't believe it myself, but I checked it out, and thats what it is). Also, there is a difference (very fine line; almost a technicality) between underaged sex and paedophilia. Theres plenty of horny 14/15 year olds walking around out there that are physically and mentally mature enough to have sex, and they are more than physically and mentally prepared for it. Society says that anything under the legal age for that country is paedophilia, but in a country where the legal age is 18 or even 21 its a little unfair and contains more than a little bit of wishful thinking.Lyrs wrote:Veldrin wrote:I mean some people believe 17 and younger is pedophilia. Don't get me wrong, paedophilia in its most well known form (kiddie fiddling rock-spiders; sick motherfuckers of the like that troll the chat rooms looking for underage boys) is wrong no matter what angle you look at it from. But once you hit mid-teens, 14 and up, the line starts to blur alarmingly, and it seems no-one can agree on what equals what.

Heh. Heh heh. Heh. She bloody well did. Heh.Oldest Father
Mine worker Les Colley (1898-1998), from the town of Ararat in western Victoria, made world headlines as the world's oldest father at age 93 yr. 10 mo., when his son Oswald was born in July 1992. "I never thought she would get pregnant so easy, but she bloody well did," he told the papers, discounting the possibility that perhaps HE had more to do with this miracle of fertilization.
On topic, physical maturity does not entail emotional maturity. A 13-year-old girl (or boy, for that matter) does not have the emotional and mental maturity to be sexually active. Hell, I wonder if even a 16-year-old kid does--I remember what most of my peers were like at that age. But I think 16 or 17 is a good legal age, and you can't really stop it beyond that anyway.
As for pedophilia in history, please remember that up until the very late 1800s children were seen as miniature adults, capable of handling anything an adult could--whether it be work, family, or sex. When psychologists and later neuroscientists began to focus on the study of children, they realized this assumption was dead wrong.
Pedophilia is a mental sickness that afflicts males and females. It is unknown whether the rate of female pedophilia is comparable to that of male pedophilia because, like female rape, it is commonly not reported. Y'know the 20-year-old babysitters who sleep with their 13-year-old charges? Maybe a dream come true for the misguided kid, but yep, that's called pedophilia.

That works as a generalisation, but remember theres no such thing as an average person. And just as theres people who are physically and mentally underdeveloped for their age, the opposite is also true (over-developed for their age).NineBirds wrote:On topic, physical maturity does not entail emotional maturity. So as a generalisation made in a perfect world, it works. But generalisations are always less accurate than facts, and the world is nowhere close to being perfect.
