Your sig is huge. Make it smaller please to fit the regular size format.staind wrote:Smokin' Joe wrote:AMV's started out using dual VCR's and were only shown at cons. The first ones online I think were on Otaku Vengeance and Doki Doki was pretty early too.
the first video online was, 17 vs Piccolo from Eric of Otaku Vengeance, i'm glad someone else still remembers them. Considering that was the first one online, it's still a very great video today, which you can find here, http://www.onslaughtcomplex.com/amvs/17vspiccolo.rm[/url]

Re: Amv history
Well, there's Matt Murray of Corn Pone Flicks, the mysterious "You Know Who" (and no, I actually don't), Bobby "C-ko" Something (can't recall the last name), Daric "Jingoro" Jackson, ...and me. I know I'm leaving folks out. I attribute it fully to the late hour.hyperchica11 wrote: -people who you think are/were "pioneers" of the amv community
In some ways both. Better, because the technology for home editing has allowed professional-grade software and hardware to find its way into consumer hands, and allowed a lot of very creative people to push the envelope every year. Worse, because a lot of not-so-talented people thought they'd make an AMV to be cool, and as a result there's a lot of absolute dreck polluting the scene. Stuff that, while it may be a valiant stab at art, fails utterly in terms of technical and creative acumen.-and other other information regarding the evolution of amvs. in your opinion have they gotten better or worse?

It's part sabbatical (on Star Wars Galaxies), part due to membership on the something-awful forums, and part work overload.
We've started using a Grass Valley nonlinear system for all our day-to-day newscast editing, so needless to say it in some ways makes things a hell of a lot easier (we send our finished pieces to servers for playout instead of back to tape) while also making it a bit harder (we now manage the incoming feeds when necessary, and producers seem to think that their deadlines can be stretched hair-thin).
I haven't edited for fun in months.
