Lord Rae still posts over at Hypeo, and Xianpower just started back up making AMV's, he posts at Hypeo also.

In some ways both. Better, because the technology for home editing has allowed professional-grade software and hardware to find its way into consumer hands, and allowed a lot of very creative people to push the envelope every year. Worse, because a lot of not-so-talented people thought they'd make an AMV to be cool, and as a result there's a lot of absolute dreck polluting the scene. Stuff that, while it may be a valiant stab at art, fails utterly in terms of technical and creative acumen.

It's part sabbatical (on Star Wars Galaxies), part due to membership on the something-awful forums, and part work overload.

We've started using a Grass Valley nonlinear system for all our day-to-day newscast editing, so needless to say it in some ways makes things a hell of a lot easier (we send our finished pieces to servers for playout instead of back to tape) while also making it a bit harder (we now manage the incoming feeds when necessary, and producers seem to think that their deadlines can be stretched hair-thin).

I haven't edited for fun in months.
