It's true that the Off Topic forum is becoming a little cumbersome. Looking at the forum now I see two types of posts:
1) things about the web and the world that arent covered in the other forums - what the Off Topic forum is mainly designed for.
2) self-centered posts about, I dunno, the person posting being bored or moving house or wanting to say "la la la" because they feel like it.
So, my suggestion (and I don't mean it to seem like a cynical stab, as I think these threads have as much right to be there as anything else) is to make a new forum caled "Me Me Me!" where people can post endless amounts of self-absorbed threads talking about how they have the best cat in the world or "Hey check out my website it r0xx0rs" etc etc.
It would still come under Off Topic but be a place where threads like
I think im posting to much.... and moving and Webusaitto can live happily ever after.
So, the new Forum would be something similar to -
Me Me Me! - This forum is for posts about you, your website, your life or anything else you want to say on a personal level. New members can also say hello and introduce themselves here.
This would leave the off topic with, hopefully, posts about things like TV shows, internet gossip/funnies etc etc. Also it would be a good way to tidy up the OT forum as posts could be moved into "Me Me Me!" by moderators.
A second thing I'd like to mention is that it would be nice to put a forum rule as an announcement at the top of the OT forums to ask people to make a relevant subject title so we know what the thread is about. This would be to avoid threads that are labelled things like "omg" and "have you ever thought that..."
I've occassionally seen a thread like this, looked inside and found a big spoiler for a movie that I haven't seen or, more commonly, found a post about something I'm just not at all interested in like baseball or something. So, a decent subject would be really nice so I know what threads i might like to read.
