I don't care about newbie vs. non-newbie, I care about idiot vs. non-idiot.

I've had people ask me what AMVs are or how they're made, after I've mentioned that I've been working on them. I just give them the link to the Guides if they're interested and tell them they can ask me questions if they still have questions. It's not my job to coddle them, but I don't feel compelled to be an ass about it either.

People on the boards who can't bother to put together a real sentence and are making lame LBZ downloaded-clip videos I just ignore. They clearly aren't trying.

My thoughts exactly.

That applies for just about anyone here, doesn't it?

I've been asked quite a few times. :?

I've gotten the ones who know about the guides and couldn't translate them to save their lives (some Portuguese, one Itallian, and a number of Spanish speakers) and I must say, I'm very patient. With them I go through step by step and tell them exactly what I do, then point them to certain parts of the guides to reread with fine-toothed comb if they want to do the complicated methods.

Others don't seem to understand the guides (no language barrier, they're just too detailed and complicated) so I have a nice simple walk-through I wrote up after I joined that I copy and paste for them.

So really, I only take a lot of time to explain to those who can't read the guides because they're not English-speakers. For the rest, I just take 2 minutes to copy & paste my little walkthrough. I either scare them off, or get a nice little pack of questions that are almost always the same - force aspi problems, avisynth problems, wtf is wrong with premiere problems, the usual.

I consider myself a helper. If I get a question I can answer, I'll do it. ^_^

Newbies don't usually bother me too much, I tend to just ignore them. But when they act retarded and arrogant then it gets annoying. On the boards they freak on threads, like "OMFG what the hell does AMV stand for?!" I saw that just the other day  I see things of that nature all the time. I want to get on their threads and cuss them out, but then I get all those people yelling back at me "Don't be mean...blah blah...It's just a simple question why are you getting mad...blah blah..."

uh, who's a newbie? If you are refering to my user name only being a couple of days old, it's because I just registered a new one the other day. If you're not talking about that, then what?

I've had plenty of e-mails come my way asking for help and sometimes it takes me a week or two to respond but somewhere in that time period I get in the mood to help someone in getting started on the hobby. The first thing I always tell the person asking for help is if you're not patient about learning things you may as well quit now because there's no shortcuts in learning this kind of stuff. Especially if you start out with mid-level editing software like I did.

It matters not. I kid (therefore the screaming picture).

I always do.

Hey Ari, can you give away that nice simple walk-through?

I don't know if they updated the guides or not, but they need to. Some of that is kind of easy to get, and the other is just beyond me. The instructions are faulty.
