Cant get premiere to fade my clip in/out.

I followed Premieres built in guide, trying to make my opening clip fade in. I got to the point where I have made red handles (in video2) and directed the red lines exactly the way I want them too. I have set transparency to RGB: black (0,0,0). According to the guide this should work. but it doesnt.

Also how can I export my entire project? (not just a single clip at a time)
Is there anyway to export sound as well? Is there another way to produce my final file without using the export command?

Ummm... you don't need to set the transperancy.

If you already know about the red rubber band then all you should have to do is pull one of those down to make it fade out. You shouldn't have to have transparency settings at all. Although you do have to make sure there isn't any footage in the lower video lines so it doesn fade to black.

To veiw this or any other effect you must hit "enter" or preview... just pressing play won't work because it needs to render these frames.

It explains how to export the project and get the sound. (I don't know if you are aware but the blue triangle in the top of the timeline defines your workspace and to preview effects or to export you have to pull this out to where ever you want it.)

Finally there is no way to get your final file without exporting.

omg I excuse my language but...

WHY THE FUCK DID THEY NOT TELL ME TO HIT ENTER?! OMG!!!

I spent 5 hours researching, researching, feeling my soul slip away, following the directions to a tee, but not getting any results. I KNEW it was something simple, I just knew it.

That also answered many of my other questions (i.e. why none of the effects were working)

EVERYTHING you said was immensly helpful. I can't thank you enough!

lol it's surprising the things that you miss or rather they miss...

I remember how happy I was once I figured out how to zoom out in the timeline. It took me ages

I was able to zoom in using the magnifing glass fine but after that I found that unlike most programs the tool only zoomed in not out. It made no logical sense to me why it didn't do both. Still I'm using an old version and hopefully they fixed that up in later releases.

Yeah, sometimes it's the stupid stuff like that. I had the same problem for a good while.

Oh come on, plenty of people make this mistake.
It's something that even the makers thought was obvious but in actuality isn't.

lol, zooming the timeline, god i remember when i didnt know about that, everyone was like yeah you can edit frame by frame real easily..and im like..umm yeah well.. i can see its its easy in a 648x480 resolution or somethin at least the timeline wouldnt be so small..god damn thank god for..who ever told me about zooming in the timeline!!
