What You Mean To Me (Inuyasha AMV)

Post by Gusou » Mon Aug 25, 2003 9:17 am

Hey people. I just joined a while ago (meaning, a few minutes) and this is abviously my first post here, as well.

I am relatively new to the AMV creation scene and have made only two so far. I created both of them in relatively quick succession without any proper knowledge about video editing (since i didn't have any internet access at the time), but i am told that it came out pretty good for a newcomer.
After seeing my first AMV, one of our Admins liked it enough to upload it to our server. But then again, where i come from i was pretty much a pioneer as far as AMV creation goes. Except for the abovementioned Admin himself.

In any case, that is why i made this topic. You can download it, if you like, and leave me with any comments. Seeing as i never even thought that other people would ever see this vid, i would very much appreciate comments from this great community.

One last thing, my lower-than-average-spec-machine at home was giving some trouble (until recently, when i replaced it), so the entire video was created using Virtual Dub. :/
In any case, footage was pretty tricky to come by - The video is about two special characters that i feel are truly overlooked and underrated in the anime world. Not only that, i only have a wide range of Fansubs available to me, so keeping the subs out of my vid was hard (but i managed). Not to mention the terrible variation in the quality of the episodes.

Well, i guess the last thing you people want to do right now is to further read the stupid ramblings by some newbie, so i'll just go silent.
In any case, i hope it is not a complete waste of your time...

P.S - It is a rather mushy/soppy video and the music might not appeal to everybody. You have been warned.

(I Hope this link works... If it doesn't i'll probably only be able to work on it tomorrow)

Well, i actually may have left out an important detail...
It is not about Inuyasha; The character, i mean. It is about other characters in the series, because, quite frankly, i think that Inuyasha & Kagome get way too much attention. *My* characters are vastly underrated and overlooked, the poor people. It is a tribure to them, heh...

There should be no trouble with the AMV, actually. At the time when it was made, i used DivX 5.0.2, so keep that in mind (for what it's worth). Other than that, i can't think of anything - I didn't use any obscure codecs for either the Video or Audio.

Sweet vid. I don't know why you're making the pairing a secret, but I'll just say I enjoyed the pretty footage of the guy. Not nearly enough vids featuring him. ^_^

It's a surprise, i guess!
Besides, if one were to look *very* closely you will find that i already gave away the 'answer', but not in the actualy post content (hint).. well, maybe a tiny bit.

Yeah! That's why i decided to create the vid in the first place. He quickly became my all time favourite anime character/hero (because he *is* a big-time hero if you ask me) ever. I mean, when an anime character can actually move you enough to make your first AMV he has to be pretty darn special.
I also find the couple very fascinating, so i just had to do a vid with both of them. In any case, like you mentioned, i doubt i could have found enough sootable footage (of just the guy) for the 4 Minute length of the video.

Hey nice little video you have here. I love sappy old music and romance.
It's good to see other characters get in the spotlight now and then.

I'll drop you an op once I catch up on the last set of free ops I just got myself into.

Yes, it should be. Had a little bit of trouble with that, but i got it sorted. I have taken a look and it should be there.

You mention something about updating your DivX player; I assume you were referring to The Playa. Maybe you should try another player, like just plain Windows Media Player - I hate version 7 & 8 though, so use version 9 with its Media Updates (if you are able to). Or the old 6.4 (i think it was called). Otherwise, Zoom Player rocks, it also plays the video just fine.
But i can't see why The Playa will have a problem with it.

Are you sure you have the latest DivX installed? Make sure that you do not mess up your PC by having too many Codecs installed at the same time, they can often 'interact' with each other.

Err, no other ideas at the time. Sorry.
