Post by Veldrin » Thu Aug 21, 2003 8:19 pm

I try to be a good samaritan, but I am finding more and more that its not worth it. I doubt I will ever stop being one, but I just wanted to ask if you all consider yourself good samaritans. Have you ever had something nice happen in return becuase you were nice? I wanna hear some good stories. Thanks in advance.

Once I was stranded at the mall, I was with no one, I had no one to pick me up, and I had no money (Too much ramen, anime, and Pockey again... XD) I was almost going to brake down and cry, when this guy that I don't even know walks up to me and gives me a 10 dollor bill and walks away... I mean is that nice or what?
Well it turns out that once at school I gave him a dollor for his B-day when no one eles would... (You know when people pin dollor bills to there shrts when its there b-days, I give people money all the time)
True story

P.s It always pays to be nice, you might not always get somthing in return but it still feels good, you know?

Well, I had a wad of cash once, and I'd just bought a dvd at Wallmart and on the way out I noticed some old ladies setting up a quilt raffel. I don't need quilts, and I've never won anything in my life. But I had that cash at hand, so I bought 10 dollars of tickets (and threw them away when I got home, but that's besides the point.) The woman at the little table was talking to me and her friend went to carry some quilts back to her car - she was going to get some different ones. I helped her carry the quilts. As a result, she pulled out of the parkinglot before me and got hit by this dumb hick in a truck - if I hadn't helped her, I probably would have pulled out first and gotten the dents instead. :?

No one was hurt, but I figure I saved a lot by being nice and giving money I didn't have to give.

Well one day I asked this guy for change and he gave me the change, plus the original money. First I was like sweet 5 bucks, but halfway out the mall my conceince got the best of me and I returned it. Something good happened I think, but I can't remember what.

One time when I was like a little kid I was trying to buy SAILOR MOON SUPER S THE MOVIE at blockbuster. I rode my bike there while my mom was at work because she was a bitch and wouldn't let me buy it. When I finally got there I was short like $1. So I just kind of stood there staring at the chick at the counter for a couple of minutes. Finally the guy behind me was like you need a buck? There you go. And I was like SWEET MOTHERFACKO and rode home mission accomplished.

God my mom's a bitch.

one night, my mom drove my brother and me to a bookstore. we had gone there many times before, and since she never brought money with her to actually buy books and it took about two hours to get there, we were pretty tired of it. so, once we got there, we just roamed off while she went to look at her favorite books. she always went over to this little aisle near the front of the store that had tons of religious books and stuff. i don't know, i never really paid any mind to it when we went there.

well, after me and my brother got tired of reading goosebumps books (which we had at home; there were never any new goosebumps there for some reason), we headed over to where she was. a big man in a brown coat was standing right next to her, and as we got closer we could hear them talking about stuff. she seemed to be really into the conversation, but we were bored out of our minds (not to mention it was getting pretty late) so we decided to nag her to take us home. while we were doing that, i overheard what some of their conversation was about. namely just god-talk and "heaven's a wonderful place" and stuff like that, which all seemed to revolve around this one book she was holding in her hands. "angels among us" it read in bold, glittery letters. as i was trying to persuade her into driving us home, i noticed that there weren't any other copies of the book anywhere. it was pretty obvious that she wasn't about to part with it so soon since it was the last one in the store, so me and brian decided to be even more annoying.

the conversation never seemed to end, and they went from different topics such as 'angel's wings' to where each other lived. she had managed to get the information out of him, which turned out to be "right behind this store, in a housing development". it was a little while after he told her this that they finally noticed us being all figety about wanting to go home. he smiled, then turned to my mom and said "maybe we could continue this conversation some other time mam". she looked down at the book she was holding, and sighed heavily as she put it back in it's empty spot on the shelf. "that would be wonderful" she beemed; still attached to whatever part of that book she still had in her head. they said their farewells and we headed out the door.

i ran out of the store, straight to the car with mom lagging behind. no sooner had she closed the door and started the engine that the man in the coat had appeared right in front of us. he walked to my mom's window, said "next time, you could come prepared", and handed her that "angel's among us" book. she thanked him for an insane amount of time, and we waved goodbye as our car pulled out of the store's empty parking lot. i watched him from the rear window as he walked slowly around to the back of the store, which was just high grass and trees. probably going home, i figured.

well, that was about ten years ago, and to this day we haven't seen or heard from the guy. my mom even went out of her way to find the housing development behind the bookstore where he said he lived, but when we looked, nothing was there. just woods and farmland. she asked people who lived around the store if they knew where a person who fit his description lived, and no-one knew anyone like that. in fact, the nearest hotel was fifty miles from there. no way you could walk that far.

and that's not even the weird part.

my mom's a pretty smart lady, so she decided to see if the bookstore had kept records of purchases or copies of reciepts to find out anything more about this guy. but when she told the clerk at the counter the name of the book, he asked her if she had the right store.
"of course i do, i come here all the time, why would i have the wrong store?"
"because we don't carry copies of 'angels among us' lady. that's a fairly recent title, and we're not in the business of getting books that early."

so, yeah. she's glued to the idea of the man actually being an angel since the conversation they had was so deep and he just seemed to know everything about faith that she had quesitons for. like.. he knew she was going to ask them beforehand or something.. i honestly can't tell her any different since i have no idea myself. in fact, she wrote a book about it that's hopefully going to get published sometime soon.
