I'm very surprised Arigatomyna hasn't gotten here yet, but in her absence i will say what i'm pretty sure applies to her was much as it applies to me.

Yaoi rules.
Favorite Pairing is Hiei x Kurama

As for me, I write fanfiction (though it's nowhere near as good at Arigatomyna's) and i draw fanart. My fics are on fanfiction.net.

and for some pointless self-promotion for my fics, here's a link.

Aznstarangel's Fanfictions on ff.net

All my fics are yaoi. They are Hiei x Kurama except one that is Seto x Joey from YGO

I like yaoi. If you don't, leave me alone.

I'm very, very picky when it comes to yaoi. What puts me off are the hormonal fangirls who throw two guys together just because they think it looks good even though it's blatantly out of character. I'll only subscribe to a yaoi coupling if I think it could feasibly work in character.

And that's the problem with yaoi. 90% of the time, it doesn't work in character at ALL

Oh look, we have an intellect in our midst. >P That's one thing I love about forums, how quickly you can make an enemy and the random moron that pops up now and then. I think I will now proceed to ignore you and only post what this thread was originally meant for.

And yea, Bishounen Stalker, I agree too. Your pairing *has* to be in character or else its just weird. I dont' like cross~over pairings 'cuz that's just weird and wouldnt' work.

I agree, but then, I think that's true with 90% of het couples too. ;) The problem is squealy, brainless fangirls who can't see past "omg soooo kawaiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" and, you know, understand things like story or characterization.

'Cause on the other side of the fence you have Mary Sues, or "I jump into the TV and hook up with my favorite bishie omg!" stories. And those, as we all know, need to die horrible deaths. 8)

Anyway, yeah, I agree: I am a total canon whore. But I don't think in my case that this has anything to do with the genders of the people involved.

The original question, eh. I'm not much of a shipper, like squealing over OMG THEY WERE MENT 2 B!!!! about anyone, of any type... I just find particular combinations either nice to look at (in which case I don't count it at all) or interesting. And my picks for "interesting" are usually screwed-up, because they give you more to think about. ;) My current favorite there is Muraki and Tsuzuki from YnM. I wonder why Muraki is obsessed with him in particular, and why this seems to be the only thing he takes personally - everyone else seems to be nothing but anonymous kill-fodder to Muraki, except Tsuzuki and his stepbrother.

Interesting. I'm going to have to get the manga eventually.

yeah I can't understand pairings that are totally out of character either.

I don't mind yaoi if it's from an anime that is clearly yaoi or shonen-ai. If the creator intended the two guys to get togeather then you can't mess with that. I was more against yaoi but then I took the time and watched stuff like gravitation and it's not that bad. Arigatomyna is also bringing me over to the dark side with her vids.

Still the problem with yaoi or shonen-ai anime in my mind is often you have one guy character (not necessarily macho but definetly male) and one girly guy character (efeminate). Now this seems like sterotyping to me in reality most same-sex pairings don't have a guy acting girly or a butch girl.

Strangely most yuri pairings don't have this butch girl sterotyping.

Pairings

Post by Fallen Kijo » Mon Aug 18, 2003 9:58 pm

Erghhhhhh........I can't stand those fics where real life people meet and run away with their favorite anime character. One, they're just lame and two, it could just never happen. Besides, mixing reality and fantasy characters/people is just........ah..just doesn't work. >< And then there's those anime series (GW, YuYu Hakusho, DBZ, (I'm convinced Vegeta and Gokou want each other) etc) ^^' where the yaoi is very heavily implied but the characters never act on it. (Anyone seen the "red carpet" drawing from Gundam Wing? Oh yea...its so obvious) *laughs*

Anyone read Fake? I think its cyuuuuuuuute. What about Ai no Kusabe. That movie is so sad......I almost cried at the end. (if you haven't seen it then I won't ruin it) And Gravitation is just awesome. I got obsessed and dl'd the entire series. >P

Avatars (off~topic)

Post by Fallen Kijo » Mon Aug 18, 2003 10:03 pm

PS~ How do you guys have such big/colorful avatars and still stay under the 6k rule? I could only get this little dinky drawing I did of myself. Or do you get more space if you've been here longer?

People have different ideas on how "implied" it is. Personally I don't see any Goku Vegeta implied pairing but I know some do.

It's called optimisation
Still if you want a more complex avatar or an animated one (like mine) then you will have to host it off site. I'd recommend http://www.digitalkitten.com which offers a free service.
