Removing AMV ops...

Post by OmniStrata » Wed Aug 13, 2003 1:21 am

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=21455

This is abrupt and I've sent in an icq msg as well. [go ahead and shoot me, though this probably could go in Site Suggestion. Mod it if needed please :) ]

The creator of this vid has asked me to remove my opinion. [I've made it all 5s to offset to "average" but still...

How do I go about doing this?

If Cross read this thread:

I hav somethimg to said to ya

You hav to be prepared for all kind of opinions that you probably will receive , because ppl hav mny different point of views that you'll never gonna receive the same scores/opinions since they came from different ppl
AND I hav to notice you that OmniStrata hav been reviewed 400  videos (Congrats Omni  )

So you can imagine how much good stuff Omni hav been reviewed untill now, you can't expect from him a lot of 10s being a begginer editor
So try to use all the criticism that you receive for your vids (bad/good)and use in your next videos, and when you get better scores because you was strong enough to don't be upset and work hardest to make better vids,YOU gonna feel something that I can't explain in a few words...but is something like "I LOVE THIS SITE AND ALL OF YOU GUYS",cuz they're trying to help us,and I bet that Omni gives you advices to how you can make better vids,so FORGET about scores for know and work to get better scores in your next videos,BUT REMEMBER, high scores is not everything on making AMVs,you hav to be FUN on it,and if you can hav fun making your vids ,you don't hav to care about low scores in your vids, since that YOU ask for ops for them
Forget about NUMBERS and try to hav fun
Nothing usefull here .

If Omni and the creator both agree to remove the op, I don't see a problem there. Yes, it would have been better if he'd never asked for a review from Omni (reknowned dbz-hater, whose maximum reviewability is a 4 if the vid features that anime, no matter how well or badly it was made). But he'll know better now, and if Omni wants his review removed as well, then it's really a personal matter between the two of them.

Then again, I'd say leave the review. Everyone has a right to review, and I think everyone *should* review - especially amvs they already know they'll hate. He was honest in his scores, and he explained why he gave the numbers he did. That's all you require from someone who leaves a review. Yes, it's harsh to get a very bad review from someone you thought was going to help, but this *is* helping - it's a rude awakening, but useful. I'm not sure exactly what scores Omni gave originally, but having seen a number of his reviews for vids and genres he dislikes, I *know* he always explains things (except reviewability - that's personal, no explanation necessary).

Omni, why would you want to remove the review? It's honest, accurate from your rating point of view, and done with good intentions (she/he asked for a review, right?). There's no real reason to remove it - it's not an unexplained hate review of all 1s with no backing - it's just a low review for a beginning vid. That's to be expected. If someone doesn't like the scores, that's really too bad - it's your right to review any vid. There's no reason to remove it. It's your judgement, and as far as I know, everyone has a right (maybe a responsibility) to tell people what they think about vids. It's what makes the rating system here a good thing - you get the harsh with the kind, and it gives you an overall better feedback for your work. :?

Yeah, I'm rambling, but I don't think you should ever ask to have a review removed - unless it's unexplained and purposely hateful. As far as I've seen, you don't give reviews like that. Stand behind your opinion.

Phade wrote:Hey. You can just edit your opinion to fix it up. That's the easiest thing to do.
My icq reply from Phade...

Congrats Cross/Zero. I guess your opinion is now "stuck" and there's nothing more I can do about it.

Further more, this is the first op I actually tried two MAJOR things for. Asked for removal AND upped the scores as not to hurt your precious average. [currently, I'm following the site's rules that 5 is average so...]

Either way, you're still quite cute... [thanks for the pic]

I'd suggest changing your scores to all 1s. Then the person can complain to Phade about that and get the opinion removed.

You can see my journal rant that your journal entry today inspired as to what I'd place in the comment fields.

Really, I wouldn't mind a bit if scores were removed entirely from opinions, and there were only good, bad and general comment fields. That's where the important stuff is anyway.

Why can't you just leave your opinion alone? Do you no longer have an opinion about the video?

Nah it's fine. I've set the scores straight...

It's not the lowest score I've given a vid mind you. But I'm willing to sit through shitty vids if my knowledge as a bad timing style editor is of any help...

Still, it's people who made anime music vids like "Deluge" [drools] that makes me DAMN PROUD of some of the newbs...
