How do you like your **** fast or slow?

Post by OmniStrata » Thu Jul 31, 2003 5:54 pm

Fast or slow?

I'm not referring to editing speed here. I'm talking about song types...

Say you have a fast song that requires MAD speed. [Zarxrax's DDR Entry is my fav example :)] Or you have something slower?

Slower songs for me are sheer TORTURE!!! [   ]

I'm not sure if I'll live through Soothing Symphonic!!! [ some more]

I'm all for very fast rapid fire scenes and a moving beat kept on the time with the music.

As for you others, how do you like to edit? Fast or Slow? [me ponders the possibilities]
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

I like a combination of both, fast and slow. If I'm editing nothing but fast songs I get pretty bored after a while.

I am sure that anybody who has watched my videos knows that I prefer the slower one. I think that I can do more with them to describe different feelings. Also they happen to be instrumental which is another plus for me.

I have not really used fast songs, but that has my interest. I have seen a lot of AMVs that have used to great success. I just got one that uses trance to an anime rave. The song was just perfectly used in that one to the point of me wanting to go a club post haste.

Well, I was in the middle until recently, but I've found that I really like the fast songs. The editing is fun for me, and if you toss a few slow sections in the midst of it, it comes out of no where. I like that. But I'll probably have to do a really slow song soon, before I fall into the 'fast or I die from boredome' category. I don't want to limit myself to one sort of music. ^_^ And I like all kinds of songs, fast, slow, medium, instrumental - I have a gorgeous Chinese track that's just begging for a video, with a strange mix of fast and hauntingly slow. It'll be fun to work with. So yeah, I like variety - it keeps it interesting. ^_^

Heh, it's a beautiful song, but so far every anime I've tried mixing it with just doesn't *feel* right. I may have to get more anime first. I need something mystic and dark, but with faster action (or harsh drama) for the quick sections. I think Yami no Matsuei might match, but I've tried 2 different stories so far and they just don't fit. If I can't get a good concept I'll be stuck using either my nightwalker project or Escaflowne (the movie). ^_^;; I actually have 3 working projects set to the song, they just don't feel right. But yeah, the song's a very interesting piece - fast and slow, cool and creepy. ^_^ I love it (which is why I'm not saying what it is - it's never been used here ^_~ ).

I understand that, I have several songs that I can use but face that same problem.

On the subject of fitting songs to anime, how do you think I got the name for "Invert the Frequency"

Slow is what I favor. I seem to have some trouble doing fast paced things, actually.
