Sajime Saito(sp

) is also a actual historical figure along with the shinsengumi. They even whent so far as to follow it to the point where he became a police officer after the end of the revolution.

The Seikihouti(sp, god) may aswell be true to history, i have no proof but imo they most lilkely are.

First off saying "Oniwaban group" is redundant since you're saying "Oniwa Group Group." They're either the "OniwaBanshu" or "Oniwa Group."
Secondly, yes all three of these things are historical (including the Sekihoutai). Saitoh in fact has quite a bit more history recorded in novels and so on. A humorous antecdote is in Episode 28/29 where the politician asks Saitoh if he wants a drink and he replies something like "No, if I drink, I kill people." Saitoh Hajime was a known alcoholic and died of liver failure and thus the joke.
Oh also Okita (Captain of the first Shinsengumi brigade) was also a real person. He is also the character design the creator used for Seta Soujirou.
MAS Productions wrote:There is a major difference between Vash and Kenshin. Unlike Vash, Kenshin has killed hundreds of people. Kenshin really has a reason not to kill, Vash doesn't kill because of an ideal of a woman. Kenshin wants a peaceful world but realizes that its pratically impossible in this world. Character wise Kenshin and Vash are oceans apart. True they have similar themes but thats all thats really similar. The really funny thing is, for all the power Vash should have (as in comparison to Knives) he would get his ass handed to him by Kenshin.
That's not the only difference. The other being that RK is really good and Trigun is slightly better than mediocre (for me). Oh did I say that outloud?
In all honesty, I think it has something to do with me seeing RK better (the superior one IMO) and thus Trigun just seemd to be a regurgitation of the same idea (it did come out 2 years later too) and worse...it had MUCH worse animation (seriously...don't kid yourself...look at how some of the character's faces are drawn) and a less epic and meaningful plot.
So yeah, I do agree they are similar, but not the same.
