I know I might get flamed for this one, and it's just a matter of opinion - but as far as modern digisub quality goes, I don't mind AMV's with downloaded footage. The difference in quality with DVD is minimal, if the compression is done right, and I'd much, much rather watch a well-made digisub AMV than a badly-edited DVD rip AMV.

If you ask me, this is not a real technical issue (for most), but an ethical one. For the fansub ethics discussion, go see this thread. All that needs to be said was said there.

Then again, this is coming from a guy who can't tell a 192 MP3 from a 320 one... perhaps because I'm too busy appreciating the music itself...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Heathen! What kind of priorities are those?!? ;)

As for subtitles, I agree with cropping them. It's easy (if I can do it, ANYONE can, ANYONE) and much less distracting.

I suppose this differs from person to person, but I STILL have ideas running in my head that came to me last summer. Better ideas keep coming up and I don't start them.

But I'm digressing. Continue with the subject at hand.

But you get text on the dubbed versions as well for some anime titles. Song lyrics. I have a few US released titles with excessive song translations that have to be removed the same as 'downloaded' subtitles. So asking how to remove text doesn't necessarily mean you're using downloaded footage anymore. :?

As for quick solutions with movie makers - Showbiz has a nice cropping tool if you have that editor. But you'll have to resize your clips a bit.

Just shut the fuck up. God, can't you children keep your babbling over in Off Topic? That's what it's for.

Very mature, Fyrt. I can see why so many people like you; you're so witty and original.
