if you hadn't noticed there's LOTs of crap in top 10% alongside the "Master's Vids"...
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

Actually, I don't go by the 10% list, so no, I hadn't noticed. I'm more interested in looking over different videos than just seeing the 'best' ones - though I do like to get the ones recommended, and the ones that stay on the top of the star scale. But do the 'crap' videos on the 10% list have a lot of ops? I probably should have put a number on that (as with the star scale, after 30 stars the rating probably is more accurate than something with 5-15 stars). But like I said, I don't search out the best rated, I just know that's what it's there for (to weed out the 'crap') - guess it doesn't do its job very well. Maybe if the good judges went through and gave accurate ratings to the crap the scores would go down and they wouldn't befowl the list by sitting next to the masterpieces. :?

My main argument was with the idea of censoring the amvs allowed on the org according to some standard of 'good' or 'crap' - I don't like limits on what some have called an artform. Of course, I'm not sure if all videos should be art, and I've seen few that I would consider art, but I've seen people refer to making amvs as 'visual' art and other names. I'm just afraid that once you have a standard you'll be limiting creativity in favor of editing excellence and visual perfection. It's just another form of censorship for me, so I took afront.

You call Linkin' Bark Z "creative"? This database is HUGE! And the % of Linkin' Bark Z vids is WAAY over 50% here.

It's theoretically IMPOSSIBLE to visit this site and AVOID Linkin' Bark Z.

NOOBS CAN DO THIS! THEY CAN BE CREATIVE IF ONLY THEY'D SLOW IT DOWN...

I'm glad this forum is putting a limit on posts for new users. It'll FORCE them to read first. [still, the number of noobs asking "how do I make an amv" posting RIGHT BELOW the "How to make your first amv" thread is downright offensive...]

And when there are few people who meet that standard of amv-making, the creativity will plummet faster than you'd believe. One thing I can say is that no matter how many 'crappy' quality vids flood in here, among those are different people, different styles waiting to be improved on, different ideas, and that should not be hindered.
Agreed...

The keywords here are "creative", "different". Don't be a hypocrite. You're saying creativity will plummet faster than we'd believe? It's ALREADY at an all time low and it's only getting lower! There's NOTHING new to see in an action Linkin' Bark Z video! People want to post DBZ/Bark? That's "fine" you say? I'm upset because the "other" anime watchers [majority] now see amvs as just DBZ...

I want this to STOP!! I want all anime viewers, amv and casual alike, to see that DBZ IS NOT THE ONLY TYPE OF ANIME MUSIC VIDEO!!!

When these ASSHOLES (yes, it's time to get offensive here) see THIS SITE and say, "see, I told you Joe, amvs suck cause they're all losers making DBZ vids..." I can only say... "ah fuck..."

When you own the rights to all AMV's and have the power to eliminate videos you hate, I will care about what you enjoy watching...

You don't have to care what I enjoy watching dude. That's beside the point. But when amvs are frowned on, don't you think that's a little upsetting? Don't you think the amv should be something praised? Not dissed?

I am inclined to agree with my man Arigatomyna, and really who cares if people make Linkin Park AMV's to DBZ, I am sure that they went on to make other videos, I myself have acually never seen one, and you should be smart enough to avoid them. boy I would hate to see you SOB's faces if this little niche went mainstream haha. I say if Linkin DBZ can get more people into this the better, I am sure at one point there minds will grow and they will start doing bigger and better things.

And I don't mind watching or making a crazy Action AMV its fun, and you don't always have to come up with the next big thing, I rather find them relaxing (maybe I am just demented )
